Missed numbers - tips for improvement?

I had a look at the grain and it was milled at my LHBS pretty well from what i understand (no bigger than half a grain per bit, with a couple of full grains but not too many from what I could tell). I was hoping to hit the 1.040 - 1.045 range, but I think I may not have enough grain or too...

    When to take gravity readings

Hi all I'm in the middle of my first all grain brew (DSGA BIAB) and am wanting get my head around a few things. Firstly, when should I be taking gravity readings? Are there any others I should take other than pre and post boil? And what readings will I need to calculate efficiency? Cheers Chap

Mines an unmarked brown PET with a galaxy pale ale. Tastes like S&W pacific but the colour is a standard pale ale colour. Hope u like it if you haven't had it yet [emoji16]

    Professional Etching?

Ok cool I'll give that a go, thanks. Does the temperature or type of water (ie straight tap vs boiled) matter at all?

    Professional Etching?

Hi all, I've picked up a new 40L crown urn, but am yet to use it due to being my first all grain brew and being unsure about efficiencies and other intricacies (still researching) and I've come across an issue on volumes. My urn doesnt have any markings and I have read on the forum I can do it...

No worries abyss, glad you enjoyed it. Pretty stoked actually, this is the first beer I've sent off for another brewer, so to get that feedback is awesome. Happy to share the recipe, it's originally earle's extract recipe I found while trawling the web for a decent clone, which I've tweaked...

With a concealed element crown urn, do I still need a false bottom to keep the bag from burning?

    WTB: BIAB setup

Hi all, I'm ready to make the move from extract to biab/all grain and have managed to finally scrape some cash together to make it happen. I'm essentially looking for a turnkey electric product - pot with element, false bottom (if required), thermometer, sight glass, and associated hose...

    Consistency - Bottling vs kegging

Update: opened another bottle, head retention and body much better, still having the cardboard flavour come through though [emoji17] I carb and serve at 12 psi. Not sure of the vol conversion of 1 carb drop or 12 psi but seems comparable to my tastes. At a guess from the info so far...

    Consistency - Bottling vs kegging

No brew Pi here, still extract brewing but looking to go AG soon and build from there. I do however have my notes: Yeast MJ44 Pitch temp 22oC OG 1.048 FG 1.009 My standard 24hr lag Rehydrated 1 pack in 100ml boiled and cooled water with 1 tsp dex at start of steep (90-120 min before pitching)...

    Consistency - Bottling vs kegging

Cleaning the same as kegs - sodium perc soak for 30min minimum, rinsed and sanitised. Bottling technique is direct from fermenter tap with bottling cane, stored in a cupboard at ambient temps of approx average 23 degrees no major swings. Glass 335-375ml stubbies pending what I have on hand...

    Consistency - Bottling vs kegging

Hi all Hoping the topic matches the questions. I'm having a few issues at the moment getting some sort of consistency with kegging most of my batch and bottling the remainder. The brews taste great from the keg, but the remaining beer that is bottled is thinner, lacking flavour, next to no...
