Issue with Belgian Triple (WLP 530) - Over-Carbonated Bottles

I've had 530 work very slowly to finish, and although two weeks in primary should be plenty (let alone the two in secondary) I've found a little extra time in secondary is beneficial for Tripels.

2019 NSW Amateur Home Brewing Championship

Well run comp and really quick results! Does anyone know why on the home page some categories show who got fourth and HM(?) trophies but the others just have the top three winners?

How do these go, are they pretty accurate? I do like the idea of knowing EXACTLY where my ferment is up to..

storing water from counterflow chiller - how many liters for a 65L batch?

Still worth while collecting, if you have the capacity just fill up 4x cubes and put in the fridge at cold temps a week before brew day- use tap water for about five minutes (running into big drums) and then with to the pump and cold cube water (with the run off going back into the big drums or...

Good single vessel for new to All Grain?

Brewzilla/ Robobrew/ Guten. All ready to go 1v systems at a pretty low cost. Kegland also have a "Digiboil" that is about $150 that would be perfect for a BIAB vessel if you added an external pump. Can vouch for the Robobrew, reliable, maintains a steady temp, can fit comfortably about 6.5kg of...

    The NEIPA thread

Question for the NEIPA guru's, brewed one yesterday that I've done before.. simple grain bill for 23L: 6 Kg Ale malt 700g Flaked oats 600g Wheat Mashed at 67c for 90, 90 minute boil. Brew day stuff up incoming: I rushed this one after work and as a result I didn't measure mash pH, didn't...

    Chimay yeast cultivation

That is the craziest malt bill I think I've ever seen for a NEIPA... I've not really heard of people using dark brown sugar, caraaroma, melanoiden, brown malt, carafa or dark /medium crystal (as a general rule) let alone POR and any noble type hops.. Then again, using a Belgian strain is also...

Brewzilla 35L grain going through the pump

Maybe not required but doesn't hurt- I can't see any reason why they would negatively affect a brew day, so I like to use them. Also, I put that little black rubber thing over the overflow pipe when mashing in so no grain accidentally falls down it- taking it off once all grain is added.

Brewzilla 35L grain going through the pump

-Rice hulls into the grain bill -Don't have the pump on when mashing in- just stir it yourself and take your time -When turning the pump on, just crack it a little bit and monitor the wort level, it doesn't need to be flowing at 100km/hr through the grain bed -Do you run the top screen?

    Robobrew V3 vs Guten

My brother owns three Robobrews (V1 & 2x V3's) the V1 uses an external pump. We've never had a problem brewing on any of them, always hit the gravity numbers (unless more adjuncts are used), clean up is simple as and for the price they are unreal. NB-I don't know about the Guten (never brewed...

    First rhizomes dug up today

Important to note that you are in Sydney and WEAL is in VIC, hop rhizomes need that extended cold period that we don't really get up here. Pop it in a large zip lock with some moist coir or similar and pop it in the fridge until early spring (unless you're in very South Western Sydney/ Camden/...

    Oxidation Problem

Sweetness from carbonation? I would have thought if anything carbonation would increase the perceived bitterness side of things (carbonic acid), ie- opposite to increasing the perception of sweetness? Can you elaborate a bit more please BB..

    Oxidation Problem

I've definitely tasted the same "cardboard" taste in a couple different S & W clones... How long after brewing were you detecting the flavour? Is it a slightly dusty kind of flavour/texture? I am leaning towards a wheat/05' thing if your process is usually solid and there isn't much time elapsed...
