Anyone Used Proculture Yeasts?

We had the bloke who runs Pro Culture speak at one fo our West Coast Brewers meetings - he has his doctorate in some kind of science and currently leactures/researches at Murdoch University over here in Perth. I've currently got a beer fermenting using the PRO26 Oktoberfest/Marzen yeast, and I...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

I thought this beer was spectacular. I love the hop aroma, I found it really well balanced. I also love the concept of an "Aussie Brown Ale" Bravo LC, love your work.

Comp Enter - Should I Consider

But what's the harm in entering now? You don't have to be the best, plenty of people aren't the best - just enter, get the feedback and keep brewing! Who care's if you get marked down because the beer is too cloudy or not perfectly in style? If you;ve got a half-way decent beer, pick the style...

No Chill + Ag = High Ibu

I've recently cracked a keg of my first ever no-chilled AG and it is definitely more bitter than expected. Since then I've read all kinds of theories about how many IBUs no-chilling adds on and methods to combat it. For my next no chill I'm definitely shifting all my hop additions by 5 minutes...

    Biab Hoisting Or Pulley System?

I just use a patio hanging basket hook and some rope running through the tags in my gryphon BIAB bag - For single batches you really don't need a pulley or anything fancy (unless you like gadgets etc), I can hoist my bag up with no effort at all, and there is no pulley wheel for the rope to get...

Kk Co2 Bottles - Any Good?

Sweet thanks guys - it weighs about 7.4kg so it must be empty. So pissed off.

Kk Co2 Bottles - Any Good?

So I just swapped my gas bottle (it was a greenish brew craft bottle) for a greay keg king 2.6kg bottle exactly like this one Anyway I;ve got it home, cranked the tap open, and nothing is coming aout at all. I've never had one of these gas bottles - is there some kind of trick to them, or is...

    Pilsener Advice

Definitely not 100% it will be lacking in the calciums, carbonates etc that yeast needs... 50% might be a good start, but I'm not completely sure.

Coopers Vintage Ale 2009 Recipe? My Brew Tastes Soapy!?

Soapy Soapy flavors can caused by not washing your glass very well, but they can also be produced by the fermentation conditions. If you leave the beer in the primary fermentor for a relatively long period of time after primary fermentation is over ("long" depends on the style and other...

    First Full Size Biab Ag

Yep Crown urn, and Gryphon bag. I originally modified my urn, then read about people's modified urns dying and un-modified it.... then I modified it again. I looked at a pulley but figured I could get away without one - just pulling the rope through a hook - and it worked a...

    First Full Size Biab Ag

So after a couple of partials using NickJD's stovetop method, I finally smashed out a full AG brew on the weekend! Everything went perfectly. Missed my target gravity by 1 point, 68% utilisation, didn't even lose 1 degree during the mash. My rough "pulley" system worked a treat. Everything...

    James Squires Malt Runner

For me the visual aspects were the best bit by far.... reading the rest of your sales pitch makes we want to grab another 6 pack in the off chance I got mine from a dud carton/pallet... it was like it had all the life taken out of it

    James Squires Malt Runner

I must admit reading this thread I was amazed at how negative some people were, and decided it must be an example of how people get an idea in their head about a brewery and their opinion of beer is swayed by their preconceptions... After trying their Hop Thief I was pumped for this beer... I...

    Perth

There's plenty of nice micros around, particularly if you head into the swan valley or freo - Little Creatures is titally worth the trip, it's awesome! In the city/northbridge you've got the James Squire brewpub "The Generous Squire", and there's some pubs with good beers on like the Belgian...

    Beer Gas On Or Off?

Yep mines on all the time. The "remaining gas" gague on my regulator seems to be a bit all over the place anyway - I can hammer the kegs and will hardly move at all, then other times it seems to notivably move after a couple of pints.

    Matsos Brewery Broome

I spent an arvo there a year or two ago and tried all their beers. It was a top afternoon! Pete you must be crazy - the smokey bishop was definitely one of my favourites! The mango beer nearly ruined the entire afternoon. It remains the most horrid beer I have ever drunk, and it amazes me that...

    Matilda Bay - Big Helga...

Wow this is really bizzare.... I've had it a few times at a few different pubs and have never noticed any hop character whatsoever... I've found it to be munich malt through and through - kinda like an Oktoberfest beer.
