New Hlt - Ss, Alum Or Hdpe

My last batch bought home the need to build a bigger Hot Liquor Tank. The 20l bucket is just too small for a double batch. :( My kettle is ~90l & would boil a triple batch if the rest of my equipment was scaled up. As it is I can just mash 12kg if I can keep up with the hot water! I'd like...

    Dark Ale Request

I'd say TDA is spot on. All my kit based Porters had a few hundred grams of JW dark crystal, Choc & a smaller amount of Roast in varying amounts. I'm liking the batch made with SO4 more than the US56 too.

Cascade Porter Kit. Anyone Tried It?

I did the Cascade Porter as by second ever brew & done plenty of dark beers since. With the steeped choc grain, amber DME & hops it should be great. I kept the total volume down to 18 liters too.

Are You Addicted To Your Homebrew ?

I've gained the same beer snobbery now. I'd rather drink wine at those functions serving boring beer/s. I'm nowhere near as big a wine snob but worse with coffee. Better a cup of tea than shit coffee!

    Coopers Ginger Beer Help!

I'll second the above. Get some yeast nutrient & help the yeasties along. A small amount of dry malt helps too. I always add extra ginger, either fresh grated/diced, from a jar ready minced or dry ground. I've used up to 3kg of sugar too, took ages & struggled down to 0.990 over a month. I find...

Rims Unit To Do Double Duty.

Interesting stuff! From - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewing "Many breweries have a boiling unit outside of the kettle, sometimes called a calandria, through which wort is pumped. The unit is usually a tall, thin cylinder, with many tubes upwards through it. These tubes provide an enormous...

Rims Unit To Do Double Duty.

Could a RIMS type heater unit be used to boil wort? Once the sparge was done could the kettle contents be recirculated through the RIMS (with the power wound up) to achive a boil? I could see scorching the wort & hops clogging the plumbing as potential problems. Anyone ever heard of, or done...

Great Simple (strong) Ginger Beer Recipe

Mmm... Ginger Beer! I've made a few batches & so far only used the Coopers kit as a base. I usually add 'a good amount' of fresh ginger & the last 2 batches had some dry ground ginger as well. I simmer the fresh & ground ginger with some raw sugar & stir in the kit at flame out. I've used up...

Fridge Space, Prorities & Best Laid Plans....

Yes, thanks Sluggerdog. My fresh brew is in the fridge. Maybe I'll look for another fridge, or a bigger one. The quote in my sig line is from Bambi Lee Savage - DEMON ALCOHOL It's half past two and I got that thirst Last night's pleasure, this mornin's curse There's nothin' nicer than a...

Fridge Space, Prorities & Best Laid Plans....

Here's the problem, I have a secondary jerry & a primary ready to pitch. Both won't fit in my brew fridge at once. The jerry has an APA just racked into it. This is my first AG (Yay!) & has been in the fridge steady at 18c. The primary is the last of the kits I had & will be a Raspberry Blonde...

    Coopers Original Lager

I've made one of my best beers to date with the Coopers Original Lager can & S23 yeast. I think I used Brew Enhancer 2 but the biggest thing was getting the hop additions just right. I'm really hoping that my notes make sense & I can reproduce this beer in extract or AG. Coopers Original Lager...

    Classy Party Setup

An insulated roadcase with 2 part lid, one of which holds the font. Snap open the lid, fold up the font (over a built in drip tray) pour beer. B) Something in timber would also look good. http://www.woodsmithstore.com/steamertrunk.html...
