    First Attempt At Bulk Priming

Evening all, Going to have my first crack at bulk priming tomorrow. I have a calculator to work out how many grams of dextrose to acheive the required CO2 volume for different beer styles, but it doesn't cover ginger beer or cider, both of which I am hoping to bottle tomorrow. Essentially, I...

    Stone & Wood Draught Ale

Hey all, Have done some searching for an extract recipe for the stone & wood draught ale, however all recipes seem on here seem to be for AG. I'm aware the guys use galaxy hops, and some wheat, however would love to know if anyone's had any luck with an extract version, particulary a recipe...

    Kit & Kilo Ginger Beer

Currently fermenting at about 22c (which is not bad for Spring in Brisvegas)

    Kit & Kilo Ginger Beer

I have a simple GB in the fermenter at the moment; 1 can Coopers GB 2kg raw sugar 4 tablespoons grated ginger Brought 250ml of water to the boil in a small saucepan, reduced to a simmer, added ginger and let steep for 10 mins. The liquid (strained) added to the fermenter with can & sugar...

    What Next?

Hey Fasty, I've got an all-juice cider in the fermenter at the moment (4 x 2.4lt apple juice, 4 x 2.4lt apple & pear juice, based on msheridan69's Somerset Gold recipe in the DB), will be bottling in PET tallies with 2 carb drops per bottle when finished. I assume if you want your cider...

    RecipeDB - Somerset Gold

I wondered that myself. I've used 2 packs of coopers ale yeast (total 14g, based on the recipe being multiplied by 4) left over from other kits where I have bought a better quality yeast, will be very interested to see how it turns out. This is my first 'all-juice' cider, I've made the...

    RecipeDB - Somerset Gold

Putting this one down today, making it to 20L (have multiplied the recipe x 4), really looking forward to trying this in about 6 weeks.

Wanting Better Results From Home Brewing

Check out Ebay, there's always someone selling a bottle tree/jet washer on there (that's where I got mine). I've almost finished putting my kegging setup together (just need a CO2 bottle), otherwise I'd sell you mine.

You shouldn't have too much worry of an infection from a leaking tap (just the loss of precious beer). I always spray inside the tap with some morgan sanitiser (mixed up in a spray bottle) before bottling.

Wanting Better Results From Home Brewing

I've been to the Kedron HBS a couple of times, shit store, shit advice. I live on the southside of Brisbane (so frequent Craftbrewer on weekends), but I work on the Northside, and usually go to Brewers Choice at Enoggera if I need something during the week. The guys there are great with...

    Lc Pale Ale Clone

I believe the Chinook is used for bittering, so probably wouldn't need it with the CPA kit. I have a LCPA clone in primary ferment at the moment, similar recipe, used the Black Rock East India Pale Ale kit, 1kg light DME, and 15gm cascade hops boiled for 10 mins. Will dry hop with another 15gm...

RecipeDB - Cracka Fat Pale Ale

Bottling this one today, tastes pretty good, though not quite as hoppy as I'd expected. As this is my first extract, I'll be waiting (rather impatiently) for the next 4 weeks to see how it goes.

Cheers mate, will check them out. Craftbrewer is only a 15min drive, but from their website it looks like they only sell it by the kilo (@ $7.90 for light & dark).

Where do you buy the 20kg sacks of LDME, and what do you store it in? Can you get dark & wheat malt extract as well? Getting a little sick of paying $8 - $9 a kilo for LDME, and twice that for wheat...
