That yeast is crazy i recently put down an Indian Pale Ale with U-56 and within 24 hours it was down to 1.012. Pitched at 26 with heaps of aeration. I didn't even get a chance to get its temperature down significantly

who cares more grain = more alcohol = more pissed who can complain about that

i really dont think mainstream beers that are around for along time are going to change ingredients

base grains im sweet with whatever goes as but with my speciality grains im pretty anal... but on the other hand with hops i can't help myself and put more than whats in the recipe(im addicted to hops).. but thats just me haro

My biggest screw up was today.. i just bought my whole keg setup, so this was my first time kegging. I carbed my beer it was all good i tested the outlet value on my keg and nothing happens... so im like wtf.. in order to fix the problem i had to de-pressurize the beer so of course beer sprays...

I personally wouldn't put POR in primary because simply i prefer to use it for its bittering qualities. ANy of the mainstream aroma and flavoring hops ie cascade, saaz, hallertau etc would give a nice balanced brew that the tastebuds will enjoy

I used to find this same problem when i was doing kits, they would either get better with time or worse.. For the bad ones when i bottled, the estery flavors would take over and almost kill the beer so i had to hop the living S%$# out of them just to make them drinkable. Tho a lot of the bad...

Your starter will taste like vegemite because yeast nutrient smells and tastes like Vegemite, so you shouldn't be looking for that characteristic if your starters bad
