    Cooper's Sparkling Ale Yeast

A big thanks to all of you for the info. BribieG, will have a look out for those hops. Sounds like a Belgian yeast with all that pear and banana going on? Wasn't expecting that. Will ferment at 20c. let you guys know how it went when it's in a glass. Thanks again.

    Cooper's Sparkling Ale Yeast

Cheers lads. Don't have stir plate but will step up from 10ml as I'll have a better chance if I start small.

    Cooper's Sparkling Ale Yeast

Hi all, I live in Brighton England and have just picked up a bottle of Cooper's Sparkiling Ale form a beer specialist store. I see it is bottle conditioned which excites me. Have any of you cultured the yeast from this beer and if so, what are the characteristics? I'd love to brew a true...

    Coffee Stout

Hmm... Well, me being me, I decided I couldn't wait until secondary so got cracking on it last night. Here's what I did: I took 500ml of the fermenting stout and put it through my espresso machine. Made 4 strong shots in all. Added it to the fermenter and took a taste. Yum glorious yum! Can't...

    Coffee Stout

Hi all, I was in a pub last night and they had a coffee stout. It was absolutely delicious. I read the back of the bottle and it stated that the espresso beans were added at the end of the boil. Here is my problem: I brewed my stout the night before so the boiling is out of the question...

    Coffee Stout

So... has anyone ever used coffee in a stout recipe? If so, what kind and how much? Quite interested in this. Cheers

    Efficiency Question

Oops! Forgot to mention... added 600g of honey in at the last min of boil.

    Efficiency Question

That seems very high... Hope it's true! After I boiled the HD reading read 1058 at 25 litres. Calculated that this works out at around 85%. Anyone agree/disagree? Thanks

    Efficiency Question

Sorry people... used 5kg of British pale malt. That's it.

    Efficiency Question

Hey lads... Going out of my mind here. Calculators are throwing up different results! What is my extraction efficiency? At 19c my hydrometer read 1046 from 29.7 litres of wort. Please help! Thanks Floyd

    What Is My Efficiency

I took the reading from 25 litres. The grain volume was 4.85 KG. Hydro read 1.040 at 41c. Cheers

Hydrometer Too High. Did I Do The Right Thing?

Wow, cheers for the response. I took a gravity reading at preboil and worked my efficiency out to be 76% (1% more than the recipe). I added 100g of Molasses sugar too. Wonder if that was part of the problem? I calculated that the bitterness will still be at 39.4 so that should really suffice...

Hydrometer Too High. Did I Do The Right Thing?

Hi. My Beertools program calculated that my O.G should be 1.048 for my 25L brew. It came out as 1.060! I added water to bring it down to 1.050 but had to add around 6 litres. Now I have around 30L fermenting. Did I do the right thing or did I screw up? How did Beertools get it so wrong? I'm...
