Buckwheat Groats versus Malted Buckwheat in gluten free beer

I'll soon have myself organised to make one of the Briess recipes, a bit more cleaning and stuff to order. Later I'll try some recipes with small amounts of buckwheat both malted and unmalted, sounds like I need to be a little wary.

    Entire homebrew kit for sale

I stopped brewing a couple of years before the first kid came along but restarted not long after the second came, I'll say this, kids will drive you to drink and it's better if it's cheaper and good quality drink. Good luck!

Buckwheat Groats versus Malted Buckwheat in gluten free beer

Thanks for the advice, the Briess recipe looks like a good place to start. I will try Buckwheat at some point, worthwhile adding it to the same recipe later to see if I like it or not.

Buckwheat Groats versus Malted Buckwheat in gluten free beer

After suddenly becoming gluten intolerant this year, I'm looking at getting into gluten free home brewing as buying commercial made is expensive. I have some recipes I'm going to try out but am looking at Buckwheat as one of the grains I will use. I have a recipe that involves just using...

    How many use bottles?

I started out bottling, moved on to kegging, drank a lot more, gave up for a while and sold all my keg related equipment and have been bottling 20L-25L batches for the last 10 years or so. I enjoyed kegging more but with bottling, you just have to get it done and then its over and you have...

Bunnings blue BMW fermenters are they any good?

Has anyone used these for brewing http://www.bunnings.com.au/venture-bmw-25l-blue-tint-wide-mouth-water-storage-drum-with-bung_p3240533 do normal taps fit in okay? I have heard of some issues with Bunnings fermenters having different or poorly cut threads.

How much bleach to clean bottles

Actually the sodium carbonate is more expensive than bleach, you need to use a minimum of 7g per litre, I find 28g/L is effective, I make up 60L of solution at a time using only 240ml of bleach, at that concentration it just needs a quick rinse in hot water, bleach also has the added advantage...

How much bleach to clean bottles

I always find a bottle brush leaves some bits behind plus it takes time to brush each individual bottle, I found using bleach to clean them is quick and easy and the bottles don't smell of chlorine. I used to use bleach all of the time for sanitizing my fermenter and bottles and had no issues.

How much bleach to clean bottles

You know what cancel the red alert, it looks like the residue is on the outside, glue left over from all the labels, really tough to get off once it dries, looks just like the residue that was in the bottles to begin with. The way I'm doing it seems easier and (now I realize about the glue) more...

How much bleach to clean bottles

I followed John Palmers recommendation of 4ml per liter of bleach (unscented White King, fresh bottle) and left my bottles soaking for about 10 days, all of the labels came off but there is still a little residue on the sides of the bottles. How strong can or should you go 5ml, 6ml per liter?

What Are You Brewing - 2014

Whipped this one up today, my first Saison, I can hear it going gangbusters under the house as I type this, hope it doesn't keep me awake. Seem to be struggling with efficiency using BIAB, just need to start increasing the ingredients a bit, bag was pretty heavy so more would be a struggle...

    What Are You Reading?

Just started reading The Hydrogen Sonata by Iain M Banks, I've read all of his books up to Inversions, but disliked it so much I have read any since. The Hydrogen Sonata seems to be pretty good 65 pages in.
