Hey guys, I just thought I would put in a community service announcement....

I've just spent close to 4 hours sparging a 46L batch of spiced pumpkin beer. I added 2 roasted then mashed pumpkins into the mash - biggest...mistake...ever. Imagine sparging mashed potatos or a 100% wheat malt bill. It is close to the most frustrating thing I've ever done. After 20 or so stuck sparges, the boil is finally on.

If I didn't show restraint, the neighbours roof would've worn the spent grain and ****ing pumpkin.

So, the message to take away from this is always use rice hulls for any recipe with pumpkin, unless you want a case of PTSD.

Rant over.

(Will add recipe into database if it ends up ok).

Ohh mate I feel your pain. I recently did a 100% sorghum mash. Sorghum has no hull and is quite sticky. I would've given my left bollock for some rice hulls that day.
