I have done quite a few partial mashes now and I was wondering what the prupose of the small amount of Whirlfoc really odes. I have done the same brew with it and withoutit(forgot to add it in) and they have notreally seemed to be any different IMO,

Is it really needed and will not putting it in eventually cause me some probkems

It is a protein coagulant which will asisst in clearing up protien haze in your beer. Some malts are worse than others. Certainly not necessary, but it's a bit late once you crack open a hazy beer without it. For the cost, it's good insurance.
