I spent days cleaning up all the patch leads at my previous employer... And it was only a single rack... that would take weeks to clean up!

At a previous company, we moved into new premisis and saw the patching job that the cabling contractors had done in the server room - 60 server racks, 3 full height switch racks, 2 full height racks for desk outlet terminations (600 odd from memory) that were patched across to the switches and all a big mass of spaghetti. You could barely get in the door. We saw it on the Friday before we moved in. We had 60 racks full of gear and 200 employees to move in on the Monday.

That was a LONG weekend.

I wish I'd taken some photos but I was too busy.

Actually crosstalk is greatly reduced when you randomly cross the patch leads. It actually starts to become an issue when you lay the cables nice and flat, neatly bunched next to each other. One of my industry blurbs pointed out that randomly laying cables in the cable tray reduced crosstalk.

One of the first things ( many beers ago ) was to always transpose cable pairs on long runs to avoid crosstalk

So, I shouldn't have cleaned up the patch panel at my office. We only have 250ish PCs and 250 phones, so the possibility of randomness is much diminished. Hmmm, I wonder if the recent phone issues are the result of my clean-up. Don't tell anyone, OK? ;)

Duc, Sorry, I was referencing the pic from zizzle with the Yellow cables, not your original post. There's a lot of paralleled cabling there!
Twisted pair cable is pretty immune to induced currents and capacitive coupling(each twist is effectively a reversal in induced current flow to the twists either side of it, which results in nulling), but still, on those long runs..... still amazes me.
