Each album has to have been released from 2000 to 2009 inclusive.

I have pretty ecclectic music tastes, so without intensively auditing my collection, from the top of my head, in no particular order, my faves are:

1. Challengers - New Pornographers (Highlight: Myriad Harbour)
2. Everything All the Time - Band of Horses (Highlight: The Funeral)
3. Fold Your Hands Child You Look Like A Peasant - Belle and Sebastian (Highlight: Fought in a War)
4. Sigh No More - Mumford and Sons (Highlight: The Cave)
5. Shepherd's Dog - Iron and Wine (Highlight: Resurrection Fern)

Bring on the debate!

Cheers - Snow.

Ecclectic tastes are good

1. Sigur Ros - Takk
2. Arcade Fire - Funeral
3. Cog - The New Normal
4. Karnivool - Sound Awake
5. AFI - Sing The Sorrow

I'm sure there's been others I've heard which should be on this list, but I never tire of these albums. Perfection and utter enjoyment the whole way through.

Must've been a bad decade for you if you listed the Pearlies as 3 of em. Sheesh, last album of theirs I bought was Vitalogy. Gave up on em after that!!!

well I think "Yield" is their best album.. released 1998.

Its funny how people wanted all PJ albums to sound like TEN and Vs. yet, when a band doesnt evolve, they get "all their albums are the same". When they evolve and experiment a little its "I liked their old stuff, they dont sound like that anymore"

As you can tell PJ are my fav bad of all time, but seriously, music has gone down hill with the release of so much "manufactured" music.

Do singers write their own music anymore?

I hear ya.
Wife loves NOVA, I love FBi and JJJ. Everytime I stick the car radio on my stations though, they're playing one of their "arty, out there and ecclectic" songs, and it quickly gets changed back to NOVA... to some autotuned ponce singing with some shit "rapper" called Lil' mike or some crap like that. Somedays I get home from work and hear her saying "your son likes listening to Mika, or Elton John." Believe me, hearing that ain't good.

However I'll be picking up the kiddies from daycare in the new year.
Lucky little kids.... 3 days a week of peak hour traffic, listening to Daddy's music. So far my 3yo daughter's been heard singing along with The Paper Scissors... f##k yeah!

Top 5's hard, 10 would be easier...In no particular order :

1. Fat Freddys Drop - Based on a true story (2005)
Had never really been into the whol dub thing m uch but this album changed my views in a big way. So musical and so great to kick back to....also i've seen them live about 3 times now and you can just skank the night away. Thanks cuzzy's.

2. Hilltop Hoods - The Calling (2003)
These boys put Australia on the hip hop map. There production is clean and the samples they dig for takes tremendous skill.

3. LTJ Buken Feat MC Conrad and DRS - Progression Sessions 3 (2000)
What can i say i love all the prgression sessions series. Conrad and DRS on mic duites with some very soulfull vocals. Starts of chill and just keeps getting darker and darker with some of the best amen chopped breaks ever. Bukems long mix's and cutting with the cross fader are second to none.

4. Klute - Lie cheat and Steal (2003)
This ones for the headz. Absolutley epic rollers. All killers no fillers. Klutes the man.

5. Kala - MIA (2007)
Makes my head hurt sometimes but its such a car album. Just put paper planes on or 20 Dolla and try and not nod your head.

so many more albums....

1. Stories From the City -Stories From the Sea - PJ Harvey
2. Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
3. Oh Brother Where Art Thou - Various Artist - Movie Soundtrack
4. Probot - Dave Grohl
5. American III: Solitary Man - Johnny Cash

Morning Glory - This is no time ta sleep
Send More Paramedics - A Feast for the Fallen

hmm thats all i can think of at the moment

Bring on the debate!

The only debate I see is on the validity of your use of the word "eclectic" (I do not mean the spelling).

However, I've always been pretty bad at this favourites bullshit, my own list would probably involve Curse Ov Dialect, The Drones, Hot Snakes, Beehive and the Barracudas and...I dunno...maybe something else rock? Pretty boring really. I like it. **** you.

Gentle Ben and his sensitive side: The sober light of day
Nathan Hollywood: Red Night Falling
Tom Waits: Orphans (Bawlers, Brawlers and Bastards)
Stratvm Terror: This is my own Hell
MZ.412: Infernal Affairs

Special Mention: Oliver Mann: Oliver Mann Sings.

Really though, this list could be changed daily. I like a lot of music a lot.

In no particular order:

Within temptation - mother earth
Nightwish - Wishsides
Epica - the phantom agony
Ayreon - 01011001
Therion - Gothic Kabbalah

Special mention to all the other Arjen bands, anything with Anneke van Giersbergen in it, Edenbridge, Xandria and Imperia

Very hard to pick five though. Maybe this should have been a top-20 or something :)

Nah, that was "Pretty boring really. **** you."

"I like it" was someone else entirely.

Certainly not a complete list (I only got halfway through my music and might have missed some of those or forgotten which decade they were from, but here are five which I enjoyed a lot. :)

Radiohead - Kid A
MF Doom & Madlib - Are Madvillain
Burial - Untrue
Jose Gonzalez - Veneer
Manu Chao - Proxima Estacion Esperanza (not the best album of the decade by a long way but something fun that helped me lose the stress of the day).

Edit: just need to add in The Avalanches - Since I left you. :super:

Wham
Pseudo Echo
A-ha
Twisted Sister
Culture Club

:D

EDIT: Crap crap crap! Naughties not eighties ^_^

Not sure about albums...but my 5 hot faviourate bands/acts of this decade:

- John Butler Trio
- The Cat Empire
- Carus
- Powederfinger
- hmmm this is a hard one...maybe Blue King Brown.
