I imagine getting something fabricated would be very pricey.....best bet would be finding something existing that happened to suit the application.

I've been looking for a stainless basket to replace the biab bag for ages, and can't find anything the right size. I have a feeling that if the grains were able to swim a bit more than they can in the bag, I'd get improved efficiency, so a steel basket with a spindle down the middle from which mash arms are attached. Run it like a washing "mash"ine.

As a side note, I've also been wondering if applying a filtered suction pump to the grain bed might extract those last few points that inevitably get left behind.

Cheese makes use this sort of thing a lot so perhaps have a look at their suppliers as well.

I was almost to the point of getting one of those Stainless Brewing jobs shipped all the way over here as it's really something I need with the amount of hops I use. Hopsock issue with me is the same as Frothie said; thing just folds in on itself. I built and attached a poor man's hop baffle from aluminium to hold the hop cone back, based on a photo someone else posted on here (name/thread escapes me) but it ain't perfect and I'm still chasing a better solution.

I ogle Nev's basket off every time I'm around there but finding stainless mesh in the right size and building a basket out of it isn't something I've found time to do just yet.

Punkin if you're considering making these or getting these made I am 100% interested and I reckon they'll go like hotcakes. Give me a day or so to measure up to see the kind of specifications that would suit my kettle.

Also re: features, I reckon if they had three arms out the top like the hop spiders aforementioned, but these were threaded so you could spin a big nut on each and tighten it to the rim of your kettle, that would be tops.

At work we use a wire frame in our filters like No3 below, so something similar with 3 arms like a hop spider to rest on the top of your keggle would keep the bag open.
