9:30-10:30pm DOCUMENTARY - DRINKING FOR ENGLAND
Drinking is arguably Englands greatest and most persistent pastime, one
that is not constrained by either social or economic bounds. This
documentary from Brian Hill sets out to explore the celebratory aspects of
England's number one drug in lyrical fashion and has won several awards,
including the UK's Royal Television Society's Best Documentary of the Year
and Best Documentary at the MIND National Media Awards in Britain.
Characters like Denis - a retired professional gent in Norfolk whose daily
routine includes gin and tonic and thinks drink driving laws should be
relaxed for experienced drivers like himself - tell or sing their stories
in verse, their words composed by poet Simon Armitage. (From the UK, in
English) M (L,A) (Rpt) CC

This could be a must for all brewers and drinkers alike

Cheers

Especially considering the following program features the mighty reds.

(Not your ones though. Ha. YNWA)

This has been on the ABC a couple of times now at least.
A very odd documentary, though if you like to watch
old doddery blokes and wrinkly old women sing about how
they can't get through breakfast without a gin, you'll love it.
Though the two young binge drinking birds are pretty fit.

Anyway, you have given us the time but not the station or date.

"SBS this Saturday night 9:30pm EST"

its in the TITLE........

Go the reds and hammer those hammers or so called ones

Might pull a few viewers who tune in for the 8.30 - 9.30 classic, 'Iron Chef'.

Watch the start and see Chairman Kaga dry heave after chomping into the yellow capsicum

I am sure You are talking about the real game on Thursday Morning of May the 18th 2006 @ 4:30am EST

And then utter what sounds like "I am crazy" whilst dressed in one of his flamboyant  outfits with the Michael Jackson gloves......what a nutter.

Theres been some brew clubs doing an "Iron brewer" contest, everone uses the same grist and hops and there is one surprise ingredient that you must include..sounds like it might be fun

No need, Jazman, chef's already taken care of that. :p (not really a conspiracy theorist)

Not my team, but like the way the Arse play and I'll be watching and supporting them next week. Tough game though.

OT a bit perhaps, but beer and football (the real one) are connected.

Jaz... arse beat wigan in the last game to take the 3 points, while the poisoned spurs lost to the bubble blowers...... which..... means.... arse took 4th spot and are into Champs League regardless of the result next thursday.

Rampaging Rovers still took the final uefa cup spot.... :super:

I'm jack of Iron Chef. :(

I reckon the judges kiss Chen Kanichi's arse too much. <_<

Why are the other Iron Chefs always left on the interchange bench?

Gotta echo Kong's post.

I hope Sparky never leaves Blackburn. :beerbang:

has anyone even seen that Italian chef cook?
he just comes up on the lift, then f*^ks off to the bar every week.

The next 3 years is good enough for now thommo.!
spark's and Beller's our Welsh saviours...

I also think the Iron Chef's get a bias from the judges... I guess it is natural to want the challenger to win.

But it is really weird as a viewer to form an opinion on which dishes are the best without tasting...

"Iron Brewer" would be a bit weird... can't do too much with presentation for viewers and the whole process takes too long.

I suppose if you compressed 4 weeks of mashing/boiling/fermenting/conditioning/judging into a 1hr show, it would have 60 minutes of more interesting viewing than Big Brother.

I thought my mate and I were the only ones who love that bit! We always seem to create a sound effect to go with it every week.

Nope. He never does.

Out of interest, has anyone seen the octopus episode (as seen on the start)? We've been hanging out for it for years and have never seen it. My mate's Japanese wife never saw it in Japan when these series aired something like 10 years ago.

Iron Brew sounds like a great concept. It's just a pity results take so long to come in.

Watched it (IC) last week when the challanger was doing pizza and he still didn't pick the Italian. Iron Chef Chinese again. I suppose this may make some tactical sense but you think they'd try to compare apples with apples.
