Just got back from the festival which I went to last night - Mecca for beer. You should try and get there at least once before you die.

Things started getting a little hazy after about the fourth glass. Then all a bit of a blur of fraulines, lederhousen and bright lights. It is a bit like an Olympic year at the 'fest - the agricultural show is on as well (same as our Royal Shows but only happens once every four years), which means lots of bright lights too and rides guaranteed to relieve you of your stomach contents.

Beer is a little on the sweet side, but perfect for drinking in vast quantities. Dinner tends to consist of half a chicken.

It's great fun isn't it?

The rides are there every year (well they were in 06 and 07 when I went). Going on the rollercoaster at the end of the night is a challenge that's for sure, but drunken bumper cars is a huge laugh especially if you're there with mates. Hope you got some great pics of all the fun.

I was there last in '04 and the agricultural show was on right at the back of the 'Fest.

It sure is great, there's a little bar right near the end of Marienplatz with a bar tender that calls himself John Travolta (and looks kinda like him) which is good, huge breakfast and beers at 8am. Porn on the big screen every night just before the night clubs open.
