Hello blokes,

I don't know if you have a local IGA shop, but my local IGA at Bribie Island has Coopers Original cans on special at 8.99 per can. Fresh too, use by dates Feb 2011.

A bargain, even you canna get 1.7 kg liquid malt for 9 bucks.

Happy drinking

Dave

Cheers Dave, bought a heap of stout today for some Winter Whoopy Juice Toucans :icon_chickcheers: Better subscribe to private health insurance.

Edit: yes it's in the Supa IGA catalogue

ALERT, SPECIAL ENDS TOMORROW CLOSE OF TRADE

Along with the IGA, woolworths up here has the same deal going until tomorrow. Solid Gold...

I'm thinking toucan coopers lager + some Wyeast 2124 bohemium lager i have in the fridge (slurry slavaged a few months ago, probably smells like a fart)

I reckon nothing can beat the lager when it's fresh, as a base goop and in a lager toucan. The genuine yeast should lift it nicely. Might be an idea to do a big starter of the slurry and make sure it isn't infected.

Will do, my fermenting fridge will be clear in a few days so I will start the starter today. I need to procure a BIAB bag before moving on into doing partial BIAB, so those grains I have bought will just need to sit in the fridge a little bit longer.

No such luck up here I have not seen any HB in a local IGA store.

When Coles and Woolies have any on special there are usually only empty spaces on the shelves. :( Recession kicking in and more people taking up homebrewing.

The LHBS is 25Kms away you do get some funny looks if you lug a FWK cube onto the number 2A bus. :excl:

Tropical, I've been to Cairns a couple of times and found that most of the IGAs there are just normal ones or express, however there are a couple of SUPA IGA's in your area that should stock the Coopers (I did a check and they have it in the latest catalogue):

Piccone's IGA Pease St
Cornetts IGA Port Douglas on the HWY

Cornetts is the same chain as on Bribie (I know Derek Cornett, he lives here). The normal and express IGAs wouldn't have it.

Local Iga(Petrie) has coopers on special. But use by is almost up.. :icon_vomit:

Thanks for that never thought about doing a search.

Nearest is about 20KMs and 50+ to PD and 'Carnivale'

I will probably pass on this one but good to know where the Supa IGA is for future reference.

The local LHBS Marlin Coast HB gives a discount to regular customers its not fantastic but its everyday so they deserve the majority of my purchases. They also stock kegs and things if I ever move up a notch or two.

I'm doing a toucan of Stout and Dark ale as suggested on this forum somewhere.

I'll let ya's know how it turns out.

Dave.

I was going to suggest adding a kilo of LDME and a kilo of dex to counter the extra bitterness but I don't think you should do that till they build the proposed Polyclinic here on Bribie with the detox unit, stomach pumping facilities, :icon_drunk: heart paddles etc
