It arrived today, and seems the business.
First off the block I think will have to be a DunkelRauchHefeRyeizenBock with double decoction :p

Doc, why not get a 19l stockpot from big w and use on your nasa burner? That's how i normally do it.

Although I did use the kitchen stove last night as my wife is in Sydney ATM.

Just scored a 2000W job on eBay for $30.
No need to reorganise anything, and I have another sliding shelf ready to go in my brew rack.

Beers,
Doc

Hope it works well, I have a 1500W hotplate and it is useless for 12 litre decoctions - on max power the thermostat keeps cutting out even though it's nowhere near boiling - may be OK for ~ 5 litres or so.

My mashes require a full decoction (80% of mash - all bar the enzyme liquid off the top), I use a 2400W immersion element and it works fine and can bring 12 litres of mash up at 2C per minute all without leaving the mash tun. Only ever get scorching if the mash is gummy (excess beta glucans), one reason I have stopped using buckwheat.

Cheers, Andrew.
