Hi All,
In Bundanoon in the Southern Highlands of NSW on the 9th April, Highlands Trails are holding a beer tasting dinner.
The event will be hosted by the editor of Beer and Brewer Magazine; Kirrily Waldhorn. Also known as the Beer Diva.
Each round of 3 beers is accompanied by a plate of food designed to accompany the beer style being discussed.
Tickets are limited and selling fast. Ticket price $80.

Beers secured for tasting:

Round 1
Grand Ridge Natural Blonde
Matilda Bay Redback
Snowy Mountains Charlotte Hefe

Round 2
Bridge Road Pale Ale
Fusion Prime
Prickley Moses Red Ale

Round 3
Grand Ridge Hatlifter Stout
Matilda Bay Dogbolter Dark Lager
Holgate Temptress Chocolate Porter

See our website for more details of how to purchase your ticket

We are very excited about our event. Having 80 odd people in a room discussing the virtues of beer sounds like the perfect evening!
Come and join us. :D

Whilst it is nice to see these sorts of events pop up, it would be nicer still if they had a line up of local craft beers instead of a bunch of blow-ins from Victoria!
Maybe next time!

I have to agree with you, but some of those beers are brewed out the back of Camden so that's nearly the highlands, isn't it

There are 2 breweries just down the road in Canberra that would have higher quality product & much fresher too!
Just a thought
James

C'mon Jimmy, the bottle options are hard to find for many NSW guys to be honest. Support the little guys, locals first then Mexicans ... there still little guys ... just from Mexico!

Scotty

Lets hope that the Natural blonde in the bootle looks better and tastes better than it did off tap from the venue ...
Cheers

The quality of the bottled beers from a couple of these breweries is hit & miss at best. How impressed would the Mexican's be if there was a flood of NSW micro's turning up on the other side of the Murray? I am starting to get to the end of my Drink Local campaign, which will be a little easier on those I drink with come the 1st of April.
Many thanks
James

Hi All,
Im impressed with everybody's fervent interest into our little event.
Hopefully some of you will come along for the evening.
The beer selection process was not straight forward.
I list of nominees was prepared by our host, Kirrily Waldhorn. These beers were from all across australia and were divided into the three categories.
Sponsor proposals were sent to each of the breweries to seek their interest in providing the beer free of charge.
Due to the commercial realities if we did not get the beer supplied free of charge, the evening would raise no money at all.
Unfortunately it just worked out that the NSW breweries were not as keen to be involved as some of the other breweries.
I accepted every brewery that confirmed their willingness to be involved bar one.
There are still quite a number of breweries who have not responded at all.

Maybe next year (we hope to make this an annual event) we will work at preparing a beer list that is aimed at quality lesser known brews rather than 3 brews of a style suitable for educating an audience.

Thanks for everybody's interest
regards
Danien Beets
