A bit of background first.
A mate of mine has built himself one awesome bar  . I will post pictures tomorrow you guys will looove it and appreciate it, I am sure. Anyway while I was over there turning green with envy and I suggested it needed to have a 3 tap font and keg setup to complete it. Now he is one of my mates that enjoys my home brew and used to brew himself years ago until he got too busy with his sparky business. So I struck up a deal that he buys the ingredients and I will brew for him solving the need to buy commercial kegs and being able to use cornies which I can exchange with him from time to time. He's not a big big beer drinker so I reckon it will all work out. Plus I get the benefit of brewing more! Yeah!

So a quick trip to the "palace of evil doings" (Ross you know I loves ya!), Craftbrewers, and he has bought a CB'c kegmate, 3 tap font, Co2 bottle and 3 cornies. Whoops! How did that happen? :icon_cheers: See linky to see what they are.

The fridge will sit neatly under the bar bench (already test fitted) with the font screwed down to the top bench. The Co2 bottle will need to be relocated from the back as it needs to sit right back in under the bench. There's plenty of room either side so it should be able to ventilate pretty good. And a few silicon washers from connecting dunnies has sealed the gap between bench and top of fridge.

Anyway's I am heading over there tonight to finish setting the gas and beer lines up for him and was wondering if anyone who has set one of these up have some tips and tricks that they learnt from installing theirs?

Thanks in advance Chappo...

EDIT: Sorry CM2 maybe I wasn't clear enough in my OP?

Thanks CM2 I have that part under control. :icon_cheers: Well for the moment anyway.

I was more after something like when I set mine up "I had to remove the big dohicky at the bottom and replace with a smaller whatsit to make the gas lines fit"... kinda thing, if you get my drift?

But thanks for the input!

ahh. ok so specifically for kegerators? I wasnt sure. i thought you'd have all that stuff covered.

Ross is probably best person for the job. esp with that technical lingo!

1) Make sure you use clamps on the tube when hooking up the quick release couplings. Ross told me it was not required if using the barbed fittings, but mine started to leak, if it blows off while you are not there it will drain your keg into your fridge and on to the floor.

2)There should be a rubber bung on the back to stick the gas line through, put a small cross cut with a knife and poke the gas line through, before putting any fittings onto the tube, small hole, tight fitting this way.

3) 3 kegs are a very snug fit. Trust me they will all fit in, I was doubtful when I first started playing with it. A bit of Tetrus may be required for practice.

Chappo, you are the nicest sounding bloke... :icon_cheers:

Man, I only have enough time to brew for myself, let alone anyone else... Hope you get to drink it aswell??

Chappo,

Here is a link to my set up.

The only issue I had was with the amount of room between the top of the fridge and the bench top.

First off I drilled the bench top and then attached the fonts.

Because of the limited room I then had to unscrew and lift the bench top.

I needed to do this so I could feed the beer lines down through the top of the fridge while pushing the fridge into place.

Fairly straight forward but just a bit of mucking around.

Cheers

Scott

Edit - Can't get link to work. Its on page 40 of Kegging set ups. (To old for this computer stuff)

So where are the pics of the bar? :icon_cheers:

+1 - I need a friend like you chappo that will brew for me, not a friend like Butters who wants to drink for me instead

I see you've got a lot of help with this, would love to know how the setup is going for your mate there Chappo

Welllll? Errr... Old mate kinda couldn't help himself by the time I got there last night he had started to cut up the gas lines into pretty pieces and was blow torching (yes litterally) the ends to shove them on the barbs. I tells ya sparkies have nooo patience what so ever. Anyway hopefully he has skanked back to CB's today for some more gas line to replace the 20 x 20cm sections.

Cheers all for the help. Boston thanks for that it did help alot especially with getting the line into the bottom of the fridge as old mate had run a dirty big 25mm conduit along the top back side of the bench where the bung is which then needed us to come in from the bottom. Drill, drill, goop, goop all done.

I'm taking half a keg over there tonight for him to try the system out as he is busting his guts to pour an actual beer. Apparently water wasn't cutting it for him.

Revknut: I will post photos tomorrow for some beer porn.

Yes I am just a wonderful nice guy  but I also get a glass 2 door ex-coke fridge as a ferment fridge for my troubles which should hold 4 fementers easily. Love brewing beer but seem to always run out of ferment room.

As promised boys
