I am going to have a lager and and ale fermenting at the same time.

Fermentasaurus with a lager yeast.
MJ SS fermenter with ale yeast.

Both brews will be pitched at the same time. I would not have belived i could do this a couple of months ago, the fsaurus is a true game changer.

The fridge will be set at 16 for 3 days then 18 for 3 days. Once both are done - cold crash.

Stupid question incoming.. how?

I have a heat source in behind the ale fermenter. But the temp probe from the temp controller, that is set to 16 , is attached to the lager fermenter. The probe that is attached to the ale fermenter is currently reading 18.6 and the lager is at 16. Fermenting the lager at pressure allows for a higher than ideal temp.

I circumvented all issues described above by obtaining two bar fridges and stacking them on top of one another so they look like one fridge! Works really well for fermenting ales and lagers together ;)

That does look like a happy fermentation to me.

Currently looking at picking one of these up. The price is cheap for a new upright and hoping I can fit in two brewbucket minis however I need to measure this up and confirm. I'm hoping that upright will 1. make things easier to get in and out and 2. going a fridge over freezer will hopefully reduce moisture issues while still being able to cold crash at 1c albeit probably not as easily as the freezer.

This is how I ferment in my chambers.

The one on the left can fit the 80L (16Gal) or a 60L fermenter like pictured in the smaller fridge on the right and a 30L beside it. Then in the freezer compartment I can fit 2x 25L ones in there with blow off tubes. The one on the right can either do 2x 30L or 1x 60L as in the picture.

Generally I put the temp on the biggest vessel and have some other temp probes on the others to monitor them and will change the STC over if the temp gets outside of 18oC + or - 2oC.

Or get a used upright for 50-100 on gumtree?
