I have a bar fridge that used to house a single keg, bottle and reg. I have since moved to a 4keg fridge, which is housed in the garage (which is connected to the house).

Am thinking of stripping the bar fridge, repainting it etc, mounting another reg inside it and moving it inside - probably into my office.

Is that just pure laziness, or is it a valid thing to do...? ANyone else got more than one keg fridge / coolroom?

Cheers - Mike

i've got 2 beer fridges in the shed and a fermentation/beer fridge in the kitchen.

wee stu has more fridges than I've had hot dinners!

I have a couple.

The fermentation freezer (~1100 litres)
The bar fridge (yeast)
The shed keg fridge (#1) holds 3 x 19 litre + 2 x 10 litre kegs
The other shed keg fridge (#2) holds 3 x 19 litre kegs
The laundry drinks fridge (research beers)
The main keg freezer in the kitchen (5 x 19 litre kegs + 1 10 litre keg)

Still working on the coolroom or replacement for the 1100 l chest freezer, as it died just before xmas. Luckily ice bottles is keeping the temp regulated and in production :p

Ok,you have convinced me - I'll not look too bad having a keg fridge in my office. ^_^

Good stuff MV. No looking back now :p

Beers,
Doc

PS: Rook, not bad. It is the air con that kills it.

I'm running an old three door commercial fridge in 1200-1500L range and it has only been using 35-100 cents a day depending on the weather (up to 43C and its on the back verandah). Checked using the jaycar energy meter thingy.

Two things improved the performance:

  • defrosting the condenser in the fridge - out of sight so wasn't until the fridge wasn't cooling so much that I found a large ice block in the bottom. Now has a little recirc fan blowing on it.
  • lots more insulation on the inside and outside of the glass doors.
