We are visiting melbourne for the weekend so I sent HWMBO to the bottle shop in Balwyn that claims
to be the best selection of beer in some geographic area, southern hemisphere, universe or something.

I *told* him to get a six pack, for educational purposes, you know!

And he comes back with 12!

Now how did that come about??

Well he had picked out 10 ... how does 10 = 6???
But he got a 10% discount if he picked another 2 so the last two were free ... 10% of 12 = 2 now??

Well he got a nice pick. It seems that the stores boast is not overstated.

2 achel brown trappist beers
emerson's apa
redoak rauch
emerald hill pale
redoak organic pale
redhill hop harvest
2x bright blowhard pale ale
red duck pale
2x westmalle tripel

so i will be well and truly educated

As a man, I can confirm his maths were spot on :D
6 can be rounded up to 10 and 10% of 12 is ahhh.. close enough.
Brain began to swell there.

That's a fantastic selection of beers, too. Enjoy!

edit: corrected maths

He is still one shy of a "brewers dozen"

Looks like a nice variety to educate your beer palate with.
The emersons APA is a great example of hoppiness.

He's done well BF you should be thankfull HWMBO is such a great scholar. Math unlike other areas of education is science therefore any answer can be proven, the otheres, well you just gotta know the answer.

So he says to himself, pay for 10 get 12, that's proof enough for him, male logic.

Just don't send us to look for, or find something (man look SWAMBO calls it)

Edit: see - spelling

Hi BF.

Its funny how we each can critisise the others maths. My SWMBO's maths goes somthing along the lines of:

SWMBO - "See what i got today?"

ATOMT - "Oh....nice. How much was that?"

SWMBO - "Only $50."

pause while ATOMT takes a closer look at product....

ATOMT - "....It says here $59.99!"

SWMBO - " Oh yeah $59.99....same thing."

Some others from my behalf are

SWMBO - "How many beers did you have last night?"

ATOMT - "Just a couple" (can equal any thing from 3 - 20. Not 2 as that would be "1 or 2").

Also

SWMBO - "What time did you get to bed?"

ATOMT - "Oh...just after two" (Can mean 2:59 or 5 AM depending on the possible outcomes of a truthful answer!)

D'oh I hope I'm not gonna get your HWMBO into trouble here!

:)

Sorry I couldnt resist, maths is the ONLY science in which anything can be proven... any other non-mathematical science is all estimates and guesswork! must be the mathematician in me....

Would that be 'a six pack' for you, and 'a six pack' for him?... :D

yeah, i figure your right ...i tend to count like this ...
now how many beers did i want again...(usually counted with lips moving)... one...two...hmm thats right lots...must have been why i took the ute ...yeah thats right lots, wouldn't have brung the ute for just two would i...
cheers

Sounds like a number of women I have heard over the years who do the same when it comes to buying clothes or other womanly things.

At least you ended up with some nice "tasters" :)

Of course it can be "proven". Like all the other "human constructs" on this planet, we made it all up in the first place so hopefully we can re-prove it.

the point was that questions in other sciences (ie not mathematics) cannot be proven...
