Does anyone else have this problem? The last one or two litres from the keg usually come out big head and no bubbles. Do I need to up the serving pressure as the keg empties?
Bob

I can't say I've come across that problem with my kegs. It should be fine as long as you maintain the same pressure all the way to the end.

I do usually know when I'm getting towards the end of the keg, because that's when the beer really clears up and starts tasting fantastic :chug: Unfortunately, it disappears all too soon after that

Cheers,
tallie

yes i experience this too, even more if that last litre or two sits there for a few days

it becomes overcarbed

the same applies when first carbing a keg, the less headspace the longer it takes to carb

i am sure there is a scientific explanation that someone can provide

How can it get overcarbed if the regulator isn't turned up? If he's nearly got through the whole keg, it should have equalised to whatever his serving pressure is, and shouldn't overcarb (read: change) at all.

+1
unless you are playing with your pressures .. there should be no difference.

every keg blowing is a (sad) surprise for me .. unless i lift the keg to weigh I can't tell how close to the end i am.

yeah i used to have that problem with the last few liters but then i fooled around with my line balancing again and it comes out a dream from start to finish. i have no idea why i could pour a good 17l and then the last bit was bad with unbalanced lines. its all fixed for me now so maybe try a longer beer line or thinner diameter like i did

My taps start (dunno what else to call it) "plinking" when there's about 1L left in the keg. Sorta like, little clicks during the pour.

Not sure why - possibly something to do with the liquid feeding into the tube sucking the occasional CO2 bubble or something.

I was going to post this last night but got sidetracked by the Tigers/Warriors game. My beer line is 2.48 metres disconnect to tap. I think it is 5mm line but not sure. Is this too short/ I hope not. My fridge only holds 2 kegs, and I seem to have miles of beer line.

I have no pouring issues with the last end of the keg and had hearing the sound of one emptying (yes, I have learnt to hear it just as the last of the keg leaves the keg so I don't get he sediment in my glass).................

Yep, I get a fair amount more head when on the last couple of liters, I pull the gas QD off when I know it's about to happen, I know my system pretty well so within the space of two or three beers I know it's comming. Also have the issue with a very full keg not carbing to it's full potential till I pour a few. Only time I've fiddled with my reg was when I got a micromatic recently (issue pre-dates this), and when I first set the system up over 12 months ago. Be good to know a cause of this but not too concerned about a fix as it doesn't bother me, maybe cause I don't know any different though..

sometimes my keezer makes whale calls..

Not sure if there is a whale in there or not but it sounds like it..

mine is fine.

although I do seem to get about 9 schooners out of the last litre... it feels like.
