How Do You Choose Which Yeast?

I understand that different yeasts provide very different results in beer making.

If Im making belgian styled ales, how do I know which yeast will yield the desired flavours?
Does anyone have the skinny on which yeasts do what?

Usually the descriptions on the manufacturer's web site are a pretty good pointer, you will get some info on the flavor profile, attenuation etc ... also good to read how other people have found them on sites like AHB.

Sometimes you just want to try a yeast there are so many it makes it hard to choose.

Here is a typical example that you can find on manufacturers websites which is a good start. I often split my batches into two separate fermenters so I can use different yeasts to compare with. Keep searching this site for yeast based threads which can give some great backgrounds on charachteristics. Happy reading.

Try all the Belgian yeasts mate,they are superb :chug:
