Bavarian Bier Purity Law 1516 – 2016

On April 23 In 1516 Bavaria introduced the Beer Purity Law, or Reinheitsgebot, which dictated that the only allowable ingredients in bier were water, barley and hops (yeast was not
discovered to exist yet). German biers have continued the tradition ever since!

Come down to Hophaus on Saturday 23 April to celebrate 500 years of great German Bier.

Limited Edition Weihenstephaner 1516 available on tap – shipped in especially!

Live Band ‘The Black Forest‘ from 6-10pm

PLUS your chance to WIN a 1L Weihenstephaner Glass Boot!

Prost!

Sounds interesting.

Translated from the Weihenstephaner website -

The "Weihenstephan 1516" is a naturally cloudy, bright-amber lager. The cellar beer is brewed according to an old traditional recipe with traditional hop varieties such as "Hallertauer Record", "Hallertau Perle" and "Hallertauer Mittelfrüh" and matures particularly long and cold in the past vaulted cellars on Weihenstephan hill. This gives the beer a balanced flavor and an opal haze. The first Antrunk a fine caramel flavor, accompanied by a fresh and fruity hops flower with a pleasant bitterness unfolds. In combination with the well-balanced malt aroma arises a mild-drinkable beer cellar. Our limited bottling is available exclusively in the jubilee year the 500th anniversary Bavarian Purity Law and only for a short time.

Probably your only chance to get a taste of Halle. Record. Almost an obsolete hop, apparently.

Get it while it's hot... or cold.
