for my first BIAB.

or would this destroy the grain properties?

seen the vid with Qldkev just using cold water with a spray nozzle and got me thinking. Got some tools sitting around, which ones can I use?!

I would dare say the internals of the Gerni are not food safe at 60-70°C
not to mention the pump could leech oil/grease into the wort

And it probably wouldn't penetrate that deep if set to a fan spray and an aimed jet would make a mess and probably cut the bag. Not too mention encouraging excessive trub in the kettle. For your first BIAB I'd try keeping it nice and simple. There's enough to go wrong without adding high pressure water into the mix. Try QLDKev's method or a couple of kettles of hot water or even try just draining first so you can see if sparging improves your efficiency on your next brew.
I'd save the Gerni for cleanup of kettles and fermentor.

TBH, just dunk the bag a few times while you're mashing out then hang the bag and squeeze the bujeezus out of it
Get your process downpat first then add your sparging and stuff later

Agree ^^^

What's your reason for wanting to sparge?

If you mash for 90 min. then mash out I honestly don't see the need for a sparge.

Cheers, Matt
