Just wondering what everyone else does, do you leave your font fan running 24/7 or do you have it on a timer etc etc

I don't use mine unless we're having people over. Then I leave it on all day (for the arvo')

If it's not on, I tip the first ~100ml of the first pour.

I'm about to piggyback mine off the fan inside my Keg King so that it only runs when the compressor is running. Previously I had been only running when serving for a while, then switching off when everyone is done.

You could run it 24/7 as it should draw very low power. I don't think there would be any negative impact to this.

When you do wire it up can you post how it was done and how well it works ?
I have a keezer build in the works and this interests me.
Cheers....spog.

I'm a bit of a mix, I often leave my font cooler on 24/7 when the weather is hot and I've got a session beer on tap, but if I need the power point for other things (ironing clothes, Xmas lights etc.) sometimes I forget to plug it back in and it's back to the frothy dark ages. :(

If I could come up with an intelligent way to preempt someone pouring beer (by about 5 minutes) I'd have an Arduino attached to it to turn it on automatically. Ideas??

Why not a second STC1000 with the sensor in the font? Bit of cost, but it could switch the fan/s on/off and just maintain a temp a degree or so below the main compartments temp.

I went this way with my coffin top keezer but can't get the temp down far enough for me to be happy with the STC controlling it - it ends up being on all the time anyway. Will be adding a timer - probably set up to be on from 4pm for a few hours on week nights and maybe from midday till whenever on weekends. The fan itself has a very low power draw but the extra work the freezer has to replace the coldness lost is a concern.
