Afternoon
Kegged a ND fresh wort Hefeweizen the other day. Kegged straight from primary. Its been in the kegerator now for 3 days. When I get home from work the first few seconds from the tap it looks a nice typical yellow wheat bear....a second later it turns into brown pond water. Its as if the beer in the line settles to the normal colour and then when the dip tube kicks in and its picking up the yeast sludge from the bottom of the keg. What can I do? Syphon with a racking tube, suck and syphon into another keg? I know wheats are meant to be cloudy but this just looks horrible? Tastes good though :beerbang:
Cheers

Steve I recently did the same thing with a keg of APA. It will pour like that for a litre or two then should clear up. I did notice a bit of yeast running into the keg when I racked it. You may be like me in that I like to drink clear beer. :D

You could trying racking to a secondary before kegging

Or crash chilling at the end of fermentation to get some of the yeast to drop out of suspension

Or even leaving the beer in the primary longer should help

However once kegged most of the sludge should come out with the first couple of pints provided its had time to settle

Cheers

Cheers KTC but its a wheat....i dont rack to secondary for wheats. Im way past the couple of pints stage after 3 days in the keg and its still like pond water?

if it's a wheat beer tip the keg upside down once a day. savour the yeast and mix it through evenly :)
