Anyone have any idea how to get the top off of a tooheys/coopers style keg?

Thanks

there is a thread which links to something whcih explains it. if i remember, its a matter of pushing the center bit in and turning it to unlock it, then it just unscrews.. although you dont actually need to do this to use the keg.

Apparently angle grinders & plasma torches will do this. Thou let the gas out first.

If you got the kegs from your local publican then get him to bleed them for you with the 'gadget attchment thingy' they use. If you have to bleed them yourself there is a thread on here somewhere. Make sure you bleed them outside and don't stand over the top of the keg as you do it... literal beer spout :beerbang: . Once you've degassed then take to it with a trusty angle grinder and wear eye protection !!!

Cheers

There are detailed instructions around somewhere, I was reading it just the other day. Google something along the lines of "remove spear tooheys keg".

Cutdown story is, you need to depress the outer black ring & while its down lift & turn the center steel bit to unlock. once this unlocks you unscrew the top cap & it all comes out.

It is very much a pain in the ass to do... Speaking from a lot of experience, stick with 20l post mix kegs, unless you are having a big party and dont have enough kegs.

Good luck,
