Guys, you might have seen a while ago a post titled "get paid to crap on about beer" well, I responded to that and the result is that I am working with jjeffery on developing a begginers beer appreciation class in Melbourne. One of the things I want to send the learners away with is a good "Further Reading" list.

So, I'd love to hear your suggestions for good Beer Reference bools. NOT brewing books. Just beer.

Tasting, Reveiws, Travel/tourism, History etv etc

websites too eg Beer Advocate and The Beer Hunter

Also, please check out my post in Beer/Pub/Breery reveiws, about trying to put together a list of ALL the micro breweries in Australia.

Thanks

Thirsty

For this kind of info I think Michael Jackson's Beer Companion is a great reference.

Brew Like a Monk by Stan Hieronymus is a great introduction to the history of Belgian beer

The new Aussie mag "Beer and Brewing" is a great all-round beer resource

I know you're not too interested in HB books, but it may be worth mentioning:

"How to Brew" JJ Palmer
"Designing Great Beers" Ray Daniels

Cheers,
Michael :)

Thirsty, have a look here for the BJCP study guide which has a great list of recommended reading, with a number of beer tasting/history (and brewing) books on there. As well as the main recommendations in the first section, there are some others further down. (ctrlF in Firefox will help ;) )
