George Young, a pioneer of Australian music as a member of The Easybeats and producer for AC/DC, the band fronted by his brothers Angus and Malcolm, has died.

Young "created a new sound for the Australian music industry," the publishing house Alberts said in a statement on its website.

Young co-wrote Friday On My Mind, an enduring hit that charted around the world, with Harry Vanda, who became his long-time songwriting partner.​

Bummer. Love the old easybeats stuff.

That is a bummer, he was very influential in the Australian music industry for many years. One of my favourite songs ever is St Louis, great song, great lyrics.

Epic songwriting. Have to hand to Stevie Wright. This would have been a hellish time in his life with multiple addictions and mental health issues, still killed it.
