Hi Guys,

Got some caramalt for steeping and then realised they're not cracked .. tried bladed
coffee mill - works fine for half but leaves other half intact - too hard. So went looking
for a milll and found the Porkert mill on sale at Cooks Market on Gouger St for $60
(normally about $105) - made in Czech Republic . Was there at 7pm tonight and they
had another 4 on the shelf. Box says "... for crushing cereals, ... and other food raw
materials." so might be of interest all budding steepers/a-grainers in Adelaide. Will
post again if there's a problem but otherwise assume it works well.

T.

Edit: Spello .. and just realising bit of a funny name it has :p

Same as the Corona mills that a few people on here are using.

Adequate for small amounts of grain... for double that you can get a Monster Mill.

Briefly saw those before I went to the city today - turns out to be same Porkert brand
as some of those before (though feed chute seems to have changed). Anyway, gotta
say it works really well - took a bit of adjusting of the milling grade but once figured out
the right level, could have ground down half kilo of caramalt in about ten minutes I reckon
- and didn't even need excessive force. I guess normal malt might require more force to
grind?

Very pleased to have been able to go out and find something like it straight off (for immediate
gratification :p) and will do nicely until I go into all-grain eventually maybe - but strewth! $280
for a MM!

$280 for a mm? we payed $150 for each in a BB recently. That was crankandstein though not monster mill. But not much diff really.

$280 from one of our site sponsors. Guess if another BB gets organised
in a few months' time I could be in on it.

apologies for the blatant hopper porn.

Maltyhops -The aussie dollar is really high so you should make the most of it. If you get a friend to go in with you then a monster mill is only ~$150 each, probaby less atm. People always want mills so you could probably just buy two and put the other one for sale in the market place forum.

Yardy -You gotta stop putting pics of that hopper up, sick of changing my pants! :)

cheers
