I'm looking into hiring a bus to take the Macarthur Ale and Lager Enthusiasts and AHB members to Canberra on either the 5th or 12th of August 2006. Once I have a quote from the coach company, I'll post a note here. If you're interested in going, please let me know, so I can estimate numbers.

I'll keep in contact with the pub and will ensure we have a beer list prior to the event. If anyone has contacts at the Wig & Pen (Richard etc.), I'd appreciate hearing from you.

We'd be leaving Campbelltown at around 7:30am and will return at 9pm. That gives us around 6.5 quality drinking hours........ :p

I reckon there is a fair chance that some of the Canberra brewers may be able to form a welcoming committee of sorts ;)

Little_Squares,

I'm a member of the Canberra Brewers and will cut and paste your message onto our website, which Richard should get to see as he is a member also and occasionally posts ...

cheers

"I fart in your general direction"

Go the python! :super:

I arranged a brew day for the Canberra brewers a couple of months ago and it was absolutely one of the best days of brewing, Richard took us through tasting and history of the beer you will not be disappointed. Contact Richard beforehand and try to arrange for him to be there

I'm just obtaining quotes from a few charter companies regarding the bus/coach and will hopefully have some more information tomorrow.

I'll also get in contact with Richard (does anyone have his last name?) and will speak to him about a brewery tour and talk.

To make this cost effective for everyone who wants to go, we need 15-25 people.

Looks like dates could be a problem for some. I've listed some Saturdays for the coming weekends. I'll put up a poll for the Saturdays in question.

How long does it take to get there

has it got a toilet in the back of the mini bus

pumpy :)

Dunno about the toilet - that depends on how many people go (size of the bus etc). It takes around 3 hours from Campbelltown at a relaxed pace which equals 2.5 hours Linz time

Richard Watkins...and a few shots of the pub are in their photo gallery...

As Stagger suggested, make sure Richard is there on the day - it's a lot more interesting when the head brewer is there whilst you have a beer or two...

Cheers,
TL

The only addition to those pics now is the real dried hop bines addorning the bar and the randall. And yes you are allowed to pick the flowers and eat them!!!! If you are brave.
