Since the Mac software has come out <geek icon>, I'm formulating a couple of Belgian recipes for a brew day very soon, depending on my old but cheap smack-pack of yeast.

I've been sifting through the great recipes on AHB and there's some well known names brewing some tasty sounding Belgians :beerbang: . I've brewed a heap of partials but here's my 2nd Belgian AG recipe formulation: View attachment 5238

I'd appreciate any feedback as I'm still getting used to my equipment idiosyncracies (sp?) and malt characteristics.

I like the residual sweetness of crystal malt but I'm worried that I might have too much for the low IBUs. ??

Also, brew police  , what's the preferred units, EBC or SRM? I can't remember.

Cheers

ok, not many public comments but thanks to some kind comments the recipe is evolving to this:

I think it's looking a bit more traditional (for someone who doesn't have a massive Belgian malt library <_< )

Tangent.

Who's been reading Brew Like A Monk??

Looks really good and complex. Only thing I'd probably change is the high AAU Kiwi hops.

I've always found that given the lowish bitterness in Dubbels it's better to noble hop all the way. Maybe try the trusty combo of Styrians and Saaz. :beerbang:

Enjoy the recipe. I'm doing a Golden Ale on Boxing day (I hope).

I'll post the recipe in a minute.

Who's been reading Brew Like A Monk??
;)
i'm going to get that book tattooed onto my arms and legs so i can read it in the shower :)

I'm going to try my pacific gem and nelson sauvin to get those crazy fruit flavours from them.
I smelled a Belgian brew that Jazman was just starting to chill and it was intense, so that's the digression into high aa kiwi hops, i'm keeping their use fairly low though.

Never used Styrian Goldings before but I've always found that Saaz needs to be used in excess.

Just don't slip weighing out the Pacific Gems Tangent.
