    Need to repitch?

I put down a Russian Imperial Stout with an OG of 1.084 on Monday. Added nutrient in the boil and oxygenated it the way I normally would. Then pitched a half pack each of Windsor and Nottingham in 4.5L of wort. It took off very quickly but there hasn't been any airlock activity since Tuesday...

    Sodastream for oxidation protection

I'm planning to transfer a APA out of the primary into the secondary for dry hopping off the yeast, but I'm really wary of oxidisation having lost a few batches that way. Do you reckon I could use my Sodastream and some tubing to introduce CO2 into the bottom of the secondary before transfer to...

    OG reading seems too high

Have just done a slight hack of a Coopers Stout kit, and instead of the BE3 they recommend, I used 500g LME and 500g dextrose. Also steeped 200g of Carapils and 100g of oatmeal. I got an OG reading of 1.066 which I checked a few times. The kits says it should be 1.038 if using the recommended...

    Moving secondary fermenter

I'm thinking of cold crashing my beer before bottling and have access to the cool room of my local club. I have a jerry can I use as a secondary fermenter, but my issue is that moving it means I need to walk it a couple of hundred meters up the street. Even though I'll leave most of the trub in...

    Adding DME to Coopers Stout

I was planning to add 1 kg of DME to a Coppers Stout kit as well as 1kg of dextrose. Is that going too make a very high ABV? Also planning to use cluster hops. Would love some feedback.

Does gas build up in secondary fermenter?

I'm doing my first extract brew. I guess it's a light lager-style, brewed with LME and sugar. Yeast was a Saflager S23. The temperature was between 22 and 24 degrees, which I know now is a little warm for that yeast. It stopped fermenting in the primary about eight days ago and is reading 1.005...
