A couple of my all time fav pint flicks would have to be:
Boondck Saints (Billy Connelly is the best)
Pulp Fiction
The Maltese Falcon
And any episode of Popeye...... Just grand (my daughter is just a couple of months old, so i have all this to look forward to).

In my opinion,
for the cost of a couple of bunnings fermenters($15 ea with the red screw lid) it far outweighs the cost and time of
brewing, bottling the finding it turned out shite due to infection caused by a coupe of old fermenters.

In my opinion, i would rack off to a cube, then it should be fine.
I presume you do not have temp controlled fridge, so althoh not ideal it prob woulden't harm.
When you get back, bottle straight away.
Or put the holiday off?
When i returned to brewing about a year ago, i had the same problem flavours as yourslf. Then i purchased a temp mate for my mini fridge.
This has improved my brewing by leaps and bounds. (Also i can finally make Lagers)
Im a gasfitter by trade, now working in sales.
Taken the easy road, working for a large plumbing supply company in sydney.
No more digging, welding, getting dirty, working call outs............... Just straight 6-330.
More time for brewing!
My bottles have always sat in a corner of the pantry where it is cool on the tiles.
I have enough room for about 8 crates, but as long as the pantry doesnt get above
25 i happy.
