    For dried yeast I always make a starter, I use LDME and water boiled in a sauspan and chilled in the sink to 21C, then pour it into the bottle with the yeast and stir every so often. My latest starter bottle is a 3 ltr OJ bottle i have a hole in the screw cap with a grommet and air lock fitted...

    Whats your batch size? I just used galaxy in a Pale ale recently, for a 19 ltr batch i was aiming for around 36 IBU. 10.5 g @ 80 min 10.5 g @ 20 min 15 g @ 5 min 24g @ flame out. Chilled Its a good hop but can be over powering.

    I have my fermentor in the garage on the concrete maintaining 12-15'C over the past 3 days. I may have to pray for some extra cold weather next week. :D

    Isnt the whole purpose of a conical to have a valve on the bottom for extracting your next batch of yeast.

    Underbench Chiller --> Glycol Chiller

    At a glance the unit requires a pump to circulate the glycol through the heat exchanger tank on top, via inlet outlet. I think the other 4 tubes would be the beer inlet-outlet x2. Does the refrigeration compressor run ok? Hope this helps.

    Is it hot atm in littlehampton? I ferment US05 at 18'C but i use a heat belt and controller to maintain my temperature this time of year in melbourne. Without a heat source i would have 14'C which is a bit low for ale yeast.
