    Mountain Goat Steam Ale Recipe?

Hi Bierme. I have a recipe for this that I have done a few times and I like it. I would more than likely have got it originally on here somewhere. It may well be one that you have come across in the older posts. But for what it's worth, as I said, I like it. Recipe attached as a pdf file out of...

    Rye Problems

Hi all. I also BIAB in a concealed element urn and did a 20% wheat and 20% rye golden ale not so long back. I don't step mash in the urn. I use a cake cooler rack on the bottom during the mash to keep the bag off the bottom but take it out for the boil. During the boil I always give the element...

I've got one of these and it's more like around 40 minutes for me. I'm down Geelong way so a bit cooler than Perth no doubt.

SOLVED - Brand new Buffalo urn won't reach rolling boil

I have one of these and have done 4 or 5 brews in it. I can get a rolling boil but I need to have the temp set as high as it will go (says 110). The manual with mine says that if you set a temp at or above 100 it will not cut out, but mine will unless it's turned right up. I have had it cut out...

    Birko or Buffalo 40l urn?

I got a Buffalo from Nisbets late last year. I've done 4 brews in it now. The 3rd one it cut out about 10 minutes into the boil. I used my coopers long handle plastic stirrer to scrape at the element cover and it started up again and kept going through for the rest of the boil. Before the last...

Kegs - What Size and Why

Thanks guys. Specialty beers and portability makes sense. Not having kegs I guess I haven't had to face these situations. Good info to take on board now as it might influence what I do later.

Kegs - What Size and Why

Hi all. Just been looking at the Keg Bulk Buy that daveHQ is organising here. I'm still a bottler but hope one day to be a kegger. What really caught my attention was how popular the 9.5 litre kegs are over the 19 litre kegs. Also, how much more popular the AEB ones are over the Keg King ones...

cheapest birko 40l urn I found

Just a follow up on my Buffalo. Used it again yesterday for the second time and no problems. I did have to set it at the full 110 to stop the thermometer cutting it out while boiling. But it did the job. That's 2 brews down and many more to come I hope.

cheapest birko 40l urn I found

There's a bit more info about the Buffalo urn in the Website deals thread. I got one and have had a couple of minor issues but another poster had his fail part way through a boil. I was told by Nisbets that they had problems with them a while back but all current stock have been electrically...

    website deals of the day

Just to add a bit more info on this. Thanks to this urn being posted here I also grabbed one a couple of weeks ago in store (Mel), along with a colander for draining the bag after mash. After a trial run with water, I have used it for one brew. The urn has a heat indicator light that is supposed...
