    Beer Cookbook

I picked up my copy yesterday too. Got it at Kmart, completely forgot about the book so it was a nice surprise to see it there! Can't wait to try out the recipes, especially the beer baked beans :icon_drool2: best way to start the day... with beer! Theres even some vegetarian recipes in...

What are you brewing II ?

This is my first attempt at a rye beer, an IPA and creating my own recipe so I'm not sure what to expect. I put this one down yesterday, was going to use Wyeast 1028 London ale but the starter smelled a bit odd so stuck with the dry yeast for safety. Recipe Specifications...

    Canberra Easter Case Swap

Sounds like a good idea. I haven't had much of a chance to make it to a Canberras brewers meeting yet so this would be a good chance to meet some fellow brewers. 1. Steve 2. Crunched (tentative) 3. Boingk 4. Fatgodzilla 5. Nihed

    2008 Output

In 2008 I did 4 kit beers and 11 all grain batches. Drank all my AG ones but still have a heap of the kit stubbies sitting in the shed... hmm, I wonder why.

    Raspberry & Apple Cider Project

I think you've got the right idea there. When You add some extra fermentables, it will raise the gravity so take a note of the differences and simply add them on to the orginal gravity reading to work out final ABV. Say your OG was 1.040 and first FG was 1.010 and the added fermentables brought...

    Kegging Setups

Heres a few pictures of my keg setup. Took me a while to put together and get working properly but well worth the effort. I got the fridge on a wooden base coated in marine varnish so if the fridge leaks then it wont stain the carpet (one of the many requirements of having the setup inside)...

    First Ag.

Heh, pretty much the same thing happened to me on my 3rd AG recently. Took a monster porter over to a friends place with a few other random beers and when I went to open it, it went everywhere. not quite over everyone but on the table, all over my pants (nice brown stain on them) and on the...

    Ross Does Canberra...canberra Brewer's Invitation

Damn, I'm working during both of those times. Would love a chance to win a keg of wig and pen beer... oh and a chance to hear Ross speak about liquid hops ;). One day when I'm not working odd hours at a bottlo I'll make it to a canberra homebrew meeting and join up.

    Low Fg

Questions are good, it'll help me pinpoint what I need to do next time for a fuller bodied beer :D. I pitched 11 grams for 20 L for both batches. It was about 2.5L/kg.

    Low Fg

    1. Initial OG's were 1.048 and 1.045 2.The yeast for both of them was Safale US-05 3. Apparent attenuations were 89% and 86%

    Low Fg

No off flavours, it actually tasted best from hydro samples before fermentation finished at 1012 or so. Just checked my thermometer, with boiling water it was 98 degrees (I think thats correct at canberras altitude above sea level) and icy water was 1 degree. Maybe I'm just measuring the mash...

    Low Fg

Heys guys I'm having some problems with my AG brews, the gravity finishes too low and leaves the beer watery and pretty bland. The hops taste/smell is still there but no real malty flavour at all. I"ve made 4 Ag's and it seems to happen with the pale beers, with the final gravity being 1005 and...

Swap A Freezer For 5 Kg Of Grain

Yep, good timing :D. I also managed to get an all grain setup from someone who was selling a little while back. Now I just got to be on the look out for some kegging gear to get started with ;) . Maybe this'll be enough to get me out of the lurker mode and into posting mode
