    Immersion Heaters And Extension Cords

Thanks for the info. I'll pick up a heavy duty (1.5mm^2 wiring) cord for the element. The cheapy cord was either 0.75mm or 1mm and got pretty warm, and was probably choking the element back. Cheers, Sean.

    Immersion Heaters And Extension Cords

Quick question that someone more electrically inclined than me might be able to answer. I've recently bought a 2400w over-the-side immersion element (the tobins one) and will be using it through an RCD. My question is to do with using these in conjunction with an extension cord. Would using a...

    A Few Newbie Questions

Hi lopeman, Same boat as you. I was just in the hunt for some coopers longneck bottles (i'm in Sydney, not sure where you are). Looking around on ebay, they tend to be going from anywhere from 40c to over $1 per bottle... From what I can see, they're mostly going for about 60-70c per bottle, in...

    First Kit - Bavarian Lager

Hi Manticle, It's probably cara-pils, but can't be entirely sure. It's this bag: http://www.thebrewshop.com.au/grain-infusi...rain-p-717.html It's an ESB bag, and on the ESB site the light grain pack says it's cara pils, but on the bag it says pilsner. Either way; i'll give it a crack ;)...

    First Kit - Bavarian Lager

Thanks CDJ. I'll rinse the grains, lower the brew temp to (say) 11 degrees and probably just sprinkle the yeast. I also imagine that the saflager at 11 degrees will take a lot longer to ferment... I'll keep up with the gravity readings, but would 3-4 odd weeks in primary be around the ballpark?

    First Kit - Bavarian Lager

Actually one other thing I'll probably change is rinsing the steeped grain per this article: http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/inde...;showarticle=80

    First Kit - Bavarian Lager

Hi Everyone, I'm going to have a go at a simple kit brew tomorrow, a Baravian Lager from a 3kg ESB kit. Pretty simple, but it's been a couple of years since I made my first attempts at brewing and I think I got complicated too quickly, leading to some poor results. I'm going to start more...

Wtb: Coopers Longneck Bottles In Sydney

Looking at the ebay completed listings; which I've been cruising this afternoon as research, they're going for anywhere between 45c and $1.10+ per bottle. The rough average is about 60-70c per bottle; at least in the last 90 days of sales. I'm more than happy to pay 60-70c per bottle.

Wtb: Coopers Longneck Bottles In Sydney

G'day Jez, I'll be picking up a bench capper in the next couple of days when I head into the brew shop. I thought of going with crowns because the glass is a apparently thicker and each bottle would probably last for more brews. I think I read somewhere on here today that the screwies don't...

Wtb: Coopers Longneck Bottles In Sydney

I've binned most of the Coopers PET bottles that came with my starter kit (They just weren't 'right' for a number of reasons). Now I'm looking to get my hands on about 90 crown seal longneck bottles in the Sydney area (I'm in Botany). I'm not really sure what the going rate is, but I'd be more...

    Introduce Yourself.

Aww geez... I got started on here, what, a year or two ago, and I guess it was a bit of a false start... Brewed a batch from a coopers kit, didn't taste real good, life got in the way, moved a couple of times and the gear got mothballed. Well I'm back now. I've settled down in sunny...

    Introduce Yourself.

Hi Everyone, I've been poking around for a few weeks just taking this all in, I might as well jump in. I'm a 25 year old firefighter from Sydney, and got into homebrew about a month ago because of some spare time on my hands... I picked up a Coopers homebrew kit from woolies (I've found a...
