Heat Panel, Light Bulb Or Other?

I use a 60W tubular heater: http://www.alertelectrical.com/prod/1323/d...oogle-base-feed and a dual channel Ranco. Fridge for when the temp goes above the set point and the tubular heater when the temp drops below the setpoint. The tubular heaters have a very low heat density and are...

Moving Overseas - Items For Sale

Well technically it's not exactly a fridge. It is a fermentation chiller modelled exactly on these plans: http://home.elp.rr.com/brewbeer/chiller/chiller.PDF Photo attached. Temperature is controlled using the black box of electronics on top and taping the temperature sensor inside the chiller...

    Brewery Construction

Your comment is true for fly sparging but untrue for batch sparging. Guess it depends on the sparge method of choice what lautering arrangement you choose. Geoff.

    Zizzle's Brewbot

I know what you're saying. I'm a Linux Systems Engineer so there can only be one way to proceed! Thanks for the cleaning tips. When I build my new system it is going to be designed for automated cleaning as one of the key requirements. Just tip and dump the mash tun (on a pivot) and...

    Zizzle's Brewbot

That's brilliant Arnie!! I'm slowly getting my stuff together to build something similar. I'll be going the Maxim / Dallas 1-Wire route for the PC Interface and doing all the control and intelligence via PC / Laptop. Already got my USB to 1-Wire interface...

How Do You Clean Your Beer Disconnect Thing?

I clean my kegs with caustic solution. So real easy to connect that up to the tap and run it through at the same time. I run no-rinse sanitiser through it after that to remove any residual caustic and leave the tap ready for the next brew.

    My Brewstand Plans

Love the idea. Where would you get the pneumatic rams from? I use an idea along similar lines borrowed from Ross. I use a 3:1 pulley system on my kettle using spinnaker pulleys. A little bit of muscle and the kettle goes from the bottom to the top of my brewstand. Once its in place, I just...

    Who Skims In The Kettle?

Hi all, Just wondering who goes to the trouble of skimming off the scum that rises to the top of the kettle at the start of the boil. Cooks always do this when they make stock as all the impurities float to the top as a foamy scum. Who skims? Geoff.

    Show Us Your Fermentation Fridge

Love your custom fermenter fridge. You've inspired me. I like the fact you can control the temperature in each section of the fridge independently. Great idea. Would love to know how you got the whole fridge / glycol chiller thing working. Geoff,

    Safale Us-56

I had the greasy post-krausen as well for a stout I recently did with US-56. I didn't worry about it and the beer tastes ok..... The biggest problem I had was I pitched the whole yeast cake of US-56 from a previous brew into the stout and it went mad. I'm going to have to look at a blowoff...

    Stand Alone Heat Exchanger

Hi Peels, Here are some of my points. Caveat- As with most brewers my opinions are just that, opinions: 1) From my discussions with brewers and craftbrewers, almost all of the commercial beers are produced without a recirculation aspect throughout the mash. Vorlaufing is very important at the...

    My Kegerator (beer Fridge)

Hi All, Just posting pictures of my new fridge conversion. 4 beers on tap. 4 kegs squeeze inside a compact fridge with a few modifications with the jigsaw. Geoff.
