    Mauribrew Lager yeast 497

Thanks I've pitched this yeast today. I used 5kg pale ale malt and 500g Munich, bittered with 14g of Herkules, then 20g of both Saaz and Vic Secret at 10 minutes and 30 g of both at flame out. I collected 24L @ 1.057 (using a Braumeister 20) I pitched at 23°C and have let the fermentation...

    Mauribrew Lager yeast 497

I thought I'd ask you guys about a lager yeast that is produced in Queensland, Australia (I'm un the UK) which I bought 500g of very cheaply at a brewing festival some months ago. Looking around the web I've found several different datasheets which give totally different fermentation temperature...

Kinda new & eager to learn!

Nope just download some free software like brewmate and stick the efficiency to about 65% as you will probably hit between that and 70% on a 90 minute mash. Yeast (US05) Temperature shock..

As has been said the yeast will be fine when the wort is back to temerature but the cold crashing will have dropped it out of suspension so you would be as well to "rouse" it a little. S-04 is a nice clean yeast but none the less I have also used US05 to make a nice English Pale.

Kinda new & eager to learn!

As per your post on the other thread, BIAB is an easy in to brewing with grain, you can keep it really simple and still get great beer. If you are aiming for 23L brews then a 50L pot or bigger is ideal for a full volume BIAB. The plusses are that its a cheaper introduction than 3 vessels, its a...

    Is a pommy allowed in?

I'm an all grain brewer from the UK and recently came across Vic Secret hops which impressed me a lot. They are the 1st Aussie hop that I've used and it lead me to wonder about Australian craft beer so I tought I would come to the source and see how/what you guys brew. Generally I do British...
