    First partial, no going back.

G'day, I've recently moved over from kits although I went straight to all-grain. Likewise, I found it surprisingly easy and the results off the charts in terms of quality. I strongly recommend taking the next step up to all-grain. So much flexibility, works out cheaper, and results are brilliant.

Newstead Brewing Co. To open this Saturday

I dropped in there about a week ago. Nothing but positives to pass on. All the beers I tried were awesome and the guest beers were interesting. Also, although obviously the beers are the focus, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. SWMBO had a pizza which was the best she could...

Getting rid of that "homebrew taste"

If it's any help, when I was starting out, the number one way I eliminated the distinctive "home brew" taste was controlling the fermentation temperature. In Brisbane especially, room temperature fermenting I think creates a very recognisable "home brew" taste. Strongly recommend the jump to...

No-chill... just leave in the urn?

G'day I am currently brewing all-grain BIAB. I finished a cook last night quite late, and was about to transfer from the urn (BIAB, 40L stainless steel urn) to a no-chill cube to start fermenting the next day, when we thought - why not simply seal up the urn and leave it as-is overnight, then...

Mt Tamborine (Brisbane region) Brewery review

G'day I went here yesterday and had a paddle of tasters. This is in the Tambourine Mountain area. They have about 8 beers on tap styled as things like "Rainforest Lager" etc, apparently trying to reflect the regional qualities. But frankly the immediate impression you get is that they decided...

    G'day from Brisbane

Been lurking for a while. Starting out with brew-in-a-bag all-grain brewing and having reasonable success and looking to refine and continue to improve. Cheers
