How long should I keep brew in primary.

Hi all I put a brew on a week and a half ago I still need to clean the bottles so I have left it to sit I'm aware that some brews require longer periods in the fermenter. Now the fermenter has started bubbling again the gravity is the same as a week ago so it's like it hit FG then sat there for...

Mercury dry clone, dose any one know how?

I will try a cider from some decent apple juice (I worked in a orange juice plant once I know what go's on) and see how that go's. I want the fizz and bite that mercury dry has that no other cider has except maybe mercury draught which is sweeter than mercury dry, but I will try a simple cider first

Mercury dry clone, dose any one know how?

Hi all I was thinking about doing a cider, as the only cider that get's drunk by my mates is mercury dry (why would any one want anything else, like sweet lolly ciders?) I also drink it myself and quite like it especially in a glass with ice. I want to have a go at doing a mercury clone but...

8 Beers you should never drink... supposedly

What is your definition of yonks? I was trying to find some info on my friends work (I will have to ask him) and found some info on x-ray mutilation but the common method seems to be inbreeding or more correctly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterosis . As far as the DNA manipulation go's I...

8 Beers you should never drink... supposedly

I have little knowledge on modern genetic manipulation techniques, but in saying that I have looked into older styles and from my knowledge they are different. As far as I was aware modern techniques came about after the equipment was developed to brake DNA down and reinsert it into other...

What came first? The brewer or the fermentation?

What came first electricity or the conductive passage?

    Thoughts on my brew recipe?

I read the packet of the grains and it said you could boil the grains and add them without steeping. My aim was just to try something. I might try hops next brew.

    Thoughts on my brew recipe?

I boiled the grains then strained the liquid then boiled the liquid that came out of the grain.

    Thoughts on my brew recipe?

No hops I have not brewed for too long and this is the first time I tried partial all be it a very simple form, I might try hops later but I don't really know how they will taste so I will get some base tastes without first.

Getting rid of that "homebrew taste"

I just want to say something, it is immensely better waking up after two or three days on the piss with a blander taste in you mouth like a CUB beer, the craft beers are heavy with flavour that is not desirable after MASSIVE drinking sessions. In saying that where I'm from VB and Carlton Draught...

    Thoughts on my brew recipe?

Hi all. I just put a brew on using a coopers draught can of LME two 1kg bags of coppertun dark DME and I boiled 500g of coppertun cracked wheat grains and added that. From my very uneducated guess I think I will get somewhere close to 7% alcohol volume is this correct? Also I wanted to use...

Help a newb with first brew please.

So if dead yeast is good for brewing, would that mean if I used water and sugar to culture lots of yeast and boiled them I could add that to the brew to feed the good yeast?

Help a newb with first brew please.

Thanks, do you have to bring it to a boil or do you just throw it in when it's boiling and kill them?
