Your experience with PET Pressure Fermenters - Open Discussion - feedback invited

Is it possible in future generations to mold the 2 inch as part of the whole unit? rather than having the threaded component? That way you dont have to deal with the fittings.

Your experience with PET Pressure Fermenters - Open Discussion - feedback invited

This ^^. No idea why the homebrew scene prefers crappy plastic taps and unsanitary threads over tc fittings. Im guessing its an expense thing. The most annoying thing for my on my Fermzilla (and looks like a similar setup on the saurus) is the bottom rubber gasket... there is 4 or 5 pieces in...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

I would jump over to the distilling forums as you will quickly learn that you shouldnt be controlling a still (especially that small) with temperature, rather they should be controlled by power input with an SCR or the the kegland power controllers - here. There is alot of opinion on temp (pid)...

    For The Math Guru's.

If this is a learning experience, why are you brewing 180 Litres at a time? Thats a sure fire way of throwing 180L of expensive hops/malt/extract down the drain if it goes bad.

    For The Math Guru's.

I brew 80L batches and use probably 2-3ml of Sellersan each time. They say on the product page that Stellarsan can be diluted down to 500L total. For me that would be 166 batches! And a bottle is $6.45.. your looking at 3 - 4 cents per brew, pretty economical in my book for a no-rinse sanitizer...

Soda Stream refilling over complicated setup?

Lol, undoing a regulator takes 15 seconds. Way overcomplicated, you also need to make sure all those tees and valves are pressure rated to 1000+ psi. Without inverting the bottle you wont get any liquid into the target bottle... You cant leave the bottle inverted as you cant get liquid into...

    Fermzilla

Its not a V2, there were some updates made to the Fermzilla around the time the all rounders came out... one update was the top is more rounded to prevent cracking compared to the original units.

NEW 60 LITRE PET TANKS FROM KEG KING

Are these 60L to the brim or is there some headspace on that aswell? I assume there wont be head space for 60L batch fermenting but looking at all options before i look more into stainless. The Fermzilla is annoying me with the 55L capacity, the last third keg gets just over half full.

    Maltzilla

I bought this one... the 24v 10amp (240watt) version. - $24.99 delivered. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/112843990043 Grabbed a $2 extension cord from bunnings and cut one end off to wire it up. Works really good.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Lol, This thing is literally 2 kegmenters welded together.. They have said in kegmenter videos that you have to drill a 32mm hole and throw in a 2.4kw element for a still boiler.. Same thing applies here. Find me a 100L or more (not a 50L keg that everyone uses, but 100L) boiler off the shelf...

    Maltzilla

I had the same issues as above ^ with the rollers hitting the side wall if you do up the screws too tight. Once that was sorted no issues at all, its great to be able to throw 6kg in the hopper (the 11L office works water bottle), flick the switch and then go do something else while it cracks...

    Propylene Glycol from Vape Stores

There are no additives in Glycol for brewery use. Vape glycol is the same thing as they use in commercial brewery chillers. Go nuts... You may be thinking of something like car antifreeze that has additives? Don't use that... Toxic

    Recommend Drill for Grain Mill

I use use a Ryobi cordless for my 2 roller and works fine... Bit of a pain to maintain a steady speed though using the trigger. Ive seen cheap powered drills used and the trigger cable tied to a specific position. This setup will be ditched though as i just pulled the trigger on the MaltZilla...

Doesnt the new ambient water come in at the top? In theory it should stay up the top while it chills and carbs and you pull from the nice cold carbed bottom water? Maybe it doesnt work like that in practice :/ I have no idea as ive never carbed like that but am thinking of setting up a...
