    Advice on buying a welder

If you want to weld aluminium have a separate torch lead liner just for that purpose. When you are welding steel the copper coat from the wire smears onto the liner and is picked up on the ally wire contaminating the weld. A point to remember with aluminium is that the oxide coating has a higher...

    Advice on buying a welder

If you buy a gas MIG you can use your CO2 brewgas when welding mild steel. Means you only have to have argon for everything else.

Fridge v freezer for fermenting fridge?

Both of my Westinghouse all fridges have no problem going down to 2'. Remember a fermenting fridge isn't being opened as often as it would in household use. I have read that freezers have a problem when trying to ferment in the 18-20' range. I don't have any personal experience with freezers.

    Lest We Forget

Just back from services etc. My Pop & uncle Bill (his brother) both served in Flanders, never said exactly where, never talked much about the horrors. Venezuela's main brewer shuts down.

Oil or money can't create rain to break the drought. Most of the countries power is hydro electric, no water in the dams = severe power restrictions. Even though the area is oil rich the cost of production is nearly the same as the current price of oil.

Venezuela's main brewer is shutting down due to the countries drought, power restrictions and "no money to buy grain from abroad" putting 10,000 out of work.

    Supermarket Challenge

The closest thing to a malt extract from Woolies, would be their Homebrand lager and ale cans. Very low bittered. I've used these to test aroma and finishing hops.

    Fermenting on grain

Corn beer, beer made from corn, is a traditional beverage in various cuisines. Chicha is widespread in Latin America and some types use corn and are fermented and alcoholic, especially chicha de jora (a type of yellow corn). I've done this. It is halfway to a process that's a no no. You mean you...
