    Finally, new brewing space

The last 12 months has been terrible for brewing, in that I've had nowhere to brew. I had a go at brewing on the boat (temperature fluctuated between 14c and 28c over the course of two weeks) - that was a dumper. And there's a shared brewery in south London called UBrew that I joined for a...

    G'day from pommyland

Just got back yesterday, managed to stay awake until 7.30pm before crashing heavily. Found myself a pub this morning and am just working my way through this pint of Siren Soundwave IPA. A pint of craft beer for $7.50. It's cracking! On the other hand, it's ******* cold here.

FS: Hops, a cask (20L pin) and two free fermenters

Last of everything. All my gear is packed and what wasn't packed has been sold. I do, however, have a load of hops, two fermenters and my plastic cask left. Some I wouldn't mind either a couple of bucks or a bottle (or two) of your best, others someone can have. The cask/pin is ace. I had a...

Wtb: Pluto gun or similar (Sydney)

Need a dispensing device before new years eve as my picnic tap has done a runner. I don't suppose anyone has anything they no longer need? Seems like all the home brew shops are shut over Christmas. Not that I blame them.

    FS: Grain (Alexandria, Sydney)

Alright, might as well make a start with this. I feel like I'm selling my kids... Base malts in plastic drums, bought from the last Sydney bulk buy so roughly 6 months old. Speciality malts are a bit older - some might be 12 months old. Selling all at $3 kilo (rounding up those under a kilo to...

    Brewing to ship overseas

Alright yer bastards. Even though no one responded to my post saying I'm leaving, I've just had a spark of inspiration. I'll be shipping all my brewing gear back to pommyland but thought it could be an interesting experiment to make a beer before I leave and stick it in one of my boxes that I'll...

    Itchy feet and that

So that time has come around when my feet start to get itchy and I start feeling restless. Have decided to move back to Pommyland. On top of that, my mum just celebrated her 73rd birthday yesterday and my old man is getting old. Having only seen them twice in the last two years, and while...

    Tonight's brew night

Made a simcoe/mosaic hopped IPA tonight. Tried out my new Grainfather Sparge vessel. Did what it said on the tin (sparged). Brew night was a bit hotchpotch but I got through it. First time I've done solely late hop additions so will see how that works out. Timings were roughly about right...

FS: 2 x 19L ball lock kegs (Alexandria, Sydney)

Surplus to requirement! Both hold their pressure fine, have used them a fair bit but nothing wrong with them at all. Good to use straight away. $60 each, $100 for the pair.

    First bochet

Cooked up my recently sourced local honey from a beek up near Ryde. Got two varieties but for the bochet I'm using the darker honey. All the honey I tried were amazing, the lighter one I bought was less sweet, and very light on the palate, delicious though and quite fragrant. The darker one I...

    Sydney honey supplies

Just transferred my first mead into another carboy to get it off the yeast (it's been sat on it for 6 weeks) and bugger me if it didn't taste delicious! So it's got me fired up to make another mead. Thinking of a bochet. I'm looking for a source of mead in Sydney that isn't Beechworth as I'd...

Looking for a Belgian ale recipe

Wanting to make a Belgian beer. In my grain silo, I have quite the motley collection - abbey malt, special b, pilsner malt, pale malt, a bit of maris otter, wheat malt, various crystals, dark malts and so on. I'm determined to start using up malt before buying anymore. Got a few hop varieties...

    Freebie: Inkbird PID

You know that first give away Inkbird had ages ago? And I won the PID? Well, it's been sat around for best part of 6 months and I've not found a use for it, awesome piece of kit that it is. So as I didn't pay for it, I feel like I'd be a cheeky ******* if I tried to sell it. So I'll give it away...

NSW 2016 xmas case swap - tasting and recipes

I'll get it going as there isn't yet a thread and I'm getting stuck into #12. Fungrel's American Lawnmower Crystal clear, medium straw colour, head stuck around for a short while, well carbonated. Not a strong hop aroma but definitely one there. Slight citrus aroma. Crisp, refreshing...

    Anyone need a small pot?

Got a 20L pot I used to make small batches in. No longer needed. Made some great little beers in it. Drilled to fit a ball valve. At a stretch you might be able to use it for small scale BIAB but I was using it as a stove top boiling kettle. Anyone can have it for nowt or it'll go to the dump...
