    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

Thanks Ben, I had wondered if that was my issue. That's why I went to using off the shelf grain bills. Didn't solve my problem unfortunately. I think it must be infection. I just need to work out where it's coming from. Cheers

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

Thats a good idea. I'll give averything a major clean with a different steriliser and then try a coopers kit. If that goes bad then it'll be new fermenter, hoses etc and another coopers kit. Thanks for your advice everyone.

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

I'm just using a 30ish L plastic fermenter with an airlock and screw in tap. Fermenting in a temperature controlled fridge. Last brew was an IPA. Went from 1.062 to 1.008 over a couple of weeks. 2x US-05 rehydrated in 2 cups of room temp water. Pitched at and set to 19 degrees. Was bubbling...

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

I'm in Perth. Yeah, maybe I should take a bottle into the brew shop. If it's an infection, wouldn't it be noticeable immediately after fermentation? Somehow it's happening under CO2 and at 4 degrees...

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

Yeah I'll try a new fermenter next time and some different sanitiser. You're right, I did have my sterilisers mixed up. What I'm using is the local homebrews brand, just labelled No Rinse Steriliser (Sodium Percarbonate) and Keg and Line Cleaner (Oxygen bleach and sanitiser). Kegs are sweet...

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

HI Kadmuim, I use Sodium Metabisulphate for kegs and lines, pull the posts off , tubes out and soak the lot each time. I sanitise everything else with Sodium percarbonate (no rinse). I transfer with silicon tube straight from fermenter to keg. It also gets a soak in no rinse steriliser. The...

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

Hi all. I have been brewing for the best part of a decade now but over the last couple of years I have brewed very few beers that I've enjoyed. The problem is a strong sweetness that comes on after kegging or bottling in almost all of my brews. The beer tastes great at the end of fermentation...

    Tap foaming problem

I get small pockets, maybe 1-2cm max in the lines right up by the taps - it's a chest freezer with wood collar setup. But I get that in the tap that pours just fine too. I've tried pulling them apart and cleaning them out but have never replaced seals. Could that really cause foaming? It's not...

    Tap foaming problem

Hi guys. Ive had three pretty basic keg taps for about a year now and two of them have developed a pouring issue. When the tap is fully opened the flow seems to be slightly obstructed and I just get foam. There seems to be a sweet spot just short of fully open that pours normally. I'm pretty...

Beer line length vs beer style

Yeah. the JG fittings might be a good solution. Does anyone know if they have much of an affect on resistance in the beer line? How about these things? http://kegking.com.au/in-line-regulator.html Apparently they do gas and liquid so could put one each side of keg. Cheap option maybe?

Beer line length vs beer style

Hi, I've been kegging for a few months now with a single regulator connected to 3 kegs with 3 identical length beer lines all sitting at a middle of the road serving pressure. I'm now looking at upgrading a little by adding 3 secondary regulators so that I don't have to have my Stout just as...

Cleaning Beer Lines Without a Keg

Thanks for the suggestions. I've unscrewed the disconnect for now as Rudi suggested and will be investing in a carbonation cap or spray bottle setup for next time. Both good solutions! Cheers.

Cleaning Beer Lines Without a Keg

I have a PET bottle but no carbonating cap. How would that work?

Cleaning Beer Lines Without a Keg

Yesterday I put together a disconnect-picnic tap setup for filling bottles from a keg so that I can take a few to a mates place or whatever without the hassle of a counter-pressure filler. Seems to work well but now I have a dirty beer line and no empty kegs to push cleaner/steriliser through...

    Co2 Tank's Perth

What did you go with cubbie and what's he charging for a 4.5Kg, cubbie? I don't have any kegging gear yet but I'm trying to convince myself that I can afford it.

    Under-Attenuated, Stuck fermentation?

I bad a brown ale a few weeks back that was meant to go down to 1.015 but stopped at 1.022. After adding more yeast, swirling gently, warming up to 20 degrees and leaving for 2 weeks it still hadn't changed so I took the advice of several brewers on here and bottled it. It came out great...

Stuck Fermentation or Just high FG?

Thanks for the replies. I have checked the thermometer in the past and it's good. I also have two Hydrometers and they are both giving me 1.022 so I guess that's as far as it's going. Will bottle up and see how it tastes in a couple of weeks. Might be interesting to have another go at getting...

I found the recipe on HBT. Fast ferment test? I don't think so... what is it?

Stuck Fermentation or Just high FG?

If it is done I'm not upset. Just don't want bottle bombs! It tastes good so I just want to get it in the bottle and in the fridge!
