    Have I Killed My Brew

    i made my last beer (Coopers Zephyr) at 18 - 23 degrees with wet terry towelling nappies & salted ice blocks & using a digital probe inserted inside the fermenter (1st time). my other 3 were around 25 degrees & they were green at 2 weeks but definitely improved at 4 weeks & then they were gone...

    funny thing is i didn't smell anything different & when i took a reading it was gassy & i did take a sip of it & it only tasted like warm beer to me (yuk). the only smell i could detect was yeast, but that could because i'm a noob. mind you when i took a sip of it, i didn't know what was waiting...

    i went & made a coopers zephyr to make a westend gold recipe. it was a coopers draught & 100g dextrose. i've never made a beer with dextrose, but you make it with 23 litres of total volume. the og was 1027 & sg was 1008 at 18 - 21oC for brewing temp.     will check out that site as i was checking out the 1st site with all the forums on coopers & it was a lot of input. 12 -13 years ago a mate bottled for me with the coopers draught,1kg of sugar, waited a week & put 1 baby scoop to each longneck & drank it 2 weeks later. stopped drinking years ago...

    hi there, i would like to start making some beer. i'm sill deciding to get a tooheys kit (has bottle capper with no bottles) or to get the coopers kit (30 plastic bottles). i like west end gold as it isn't yeasty like midstrength carlton (headache material). i'm new to this, so can anybody help...
