    Cider Advice

I'm suprised that nobody has mentioned OzTops. Make nice small quantities (i make 2Lt at a time) of cider with nothing but apple juice and champaign yeast. Ferments in a PET softdrink bottle. Tastes fantastic!!

    My Temp Control Setup

Awesome zizzle. As an electrical engineer turned software developer who has very recently discovered brewing, I have had a similar idea. I've got my samples of the DS1820, and will be building the serial interface soon. I plan to port the software to Windows, as that's what my home PC is...

    Oz Tops

I did a fair bit of searching of hte site, but nothing that answered the questions that I asked. As I said, I haven't heard a bad word about them - just a question of storage or the final product, and whether anyone has made a decent lemonade with them. Thanks for the ebay tip Stuster - $10+$6...

    Oz Tops

Hi All. I'm thinking of getting some OzTops to make alcoholic cider and lemonade for my wife. From what i've read, they work a treat. I'd love to hear how people got on with them, and in particular any recipies for a sweet alcoholic lemonade (my lemon tree is groaning with lemons right now)...

    My New Labels

I have found that a glu-stick works well. It's easy to use, the labels stick, and they clean off easy in hot water. My original labels (printed onto avery sticker paper) was a ******* to get off. The bottles still have some remanats of the glue after many wash cycles.

Don't Use Aquarium Pumps To Pump Cold Air

Sounds like you were trying to suck the cold air out of the fridge, through the pump, then into the esky. How about just trying to cool the air coming out of the pump rather than the air going in? try leaving the inlet at room temp (outside the fridge), and running the outlet hose through...

    El Cheapo Brand Beer Kits

I once worked in a food processing factory (not homebrew kits), and the home brand product was identical to brand name. It was simply excess production. We had to produce X pallets of brand name product. Any excess product was put into home brand boxes. Some times there would be heaps...

Coopers In A 11.5 Litre Fermenter?

Well, I sampled my 'full-can, no sugar' brew last night, and damn it was bitter. It was a Coopers Real Ale, and didn't taste anywhere near as nice as the Malt Shovel Larger that I used for the first batch. I might have to try a can that has a very low bitterness next time? Any suggestions...

Coopers In A 11.5 Litre Fermenter?

While waiting for my 'full tin; no sugar' Ale to mature in the bottle (2 weeks); I put down another 11.5lt batch. This time it was 1/2 tin of Cooopers Pale Ale, 500g BE2 and 1/2 packet of yeast. Got the temp pretty much spot on this time (21 degrees). I kept the other 1/2 tin in a...

Coopers In A 11.5 Litre Fermenter?

Progress report: Well I did a full can of Coopers Real Ale (didn't get out to the HBS - just went to the supermarket) and water. It was a warm day when I put it on, and I didn't get the temp. down as low as i'd like - probably around 26 degrees. Anyway - it went off with a bang! Foam out of...

Coopers In A 11.5 Litre Fermenter?

Thanks all for your encouragement. The 11.5lt fermenter will do me for now. I'll have a crack at a full-can and let you know how it goes. :)

Coopers In A 11.5 Litre Fermenter?

Hi. I got a Malt Shovel Kit for xmas -- and bottled my first batch (two-row larger) on the weekend. Finger crossed. I'm keen to get another batch on -- and would like to try the Coopers Pale Ale. I understand that you would normally use a can of CPA & 1kg of sugar in a 23lt fermenter. My...
